David Peasgood this week finds Fred and Bert just cannot believe the meeting they attended at the Town Hall!

FRED:
Unbelievable. I can't believe those stupid councilors kicked the new stadium into touch.
BERT:
For once I agree with you totally. We had a huge survey and the support for it was overwhelmingly in favour. If these councilors were representing their constituencies then they did a pretty poor job
FRED:
The daftest thing was having to lose 7 votes before we started. We might have well have said 'All those in favour leave the meeting now, and then we'll start' Bloody ridiculous.
BERT:
The Willows mob reckoned there would be excess parking on Willows and Wybers. This is stupid. Have they looked at a map lately? I know people don't mind a stroll to the grounds but not a 2 or 3 mile hike.
FRED:
Aye and wasn't there a Freshney ward guy who was worried about the effect the new stadium would have on Freshney place. I mean what's all that about? It's miles away too.
BERT:
I guess we just have to go to appeal now. At least that's the normal thing and more appeals of this kind pass than fail.
FRED:
Don't count your chickens. Clearly the anti-town brigade are stronger than many folk realised.
BERT:
Well they ought to start realising pretty soon that if they insist on knocking this back then the club will go to the wall.
