Birmingham Match Off

Torrential downpours at Blundell Park proved too much for the playing surface to take therefore the Mariners match against Birmingham City has been postponed. Referee Paul Danson inspected the pitch and called the fixture off at 1.30pm after discussing the situation with Groundsman Mike Phillips.
After heavy rain earlier in the week, the pitch looked to have recovered and was in good condition when the groundstaff arrived for work this morning. However, there were torrential downpours this morning and despite the work of the ground staff the pitch became waterlogged.
