Brad Crosses His Fingers

Mariners striker Bradley Allen is preparing himself for a visit to Lilleshall in an effort to avoid surgery on a troublesome ankle injury. The 29-year old is hopeful that a little more rest and a visit to the renowned rehabilitation centre will see him back in action later this season.
Scans on the ankle have indicated that Allen has a split ligament, and although it is likely that he will need corrective surgery, Mariners boss Lennie Lawrence is anxious not to lose the former Charlton hit-man for the remainder of the season. "I've seen two top specialists in London and both are of the opinion that rest and rehab may do the trick," said Allen. "'Obviously I am hoping they are right because if I need an operation, I won't play again this season. I've tried to come back and play but it was clear that things weren't right and now I've got my fingers crossed that the doctors are right."
