Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby finish?

Town Face FA Cup 4th Round Home Tie

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 06/01/2002

GRIMSBY TOWN have been drawn against Fulham or Wycombe at home in the FA Cup 4th round, provided of course they manage to beat Saturday's opponents York City first. The replay of yesterday's disappointing 0-0 draw with the 3rd Division outfit takes place a week on Tuesday.

The draw provides a possible opportunity to gain revenge over the Chairboys, who last season knocked Town out of the FA Cup at Blundell Park after a replay in what was one of the Mariners' low points last campaign. Premiership side Fulham will not be looking forward to a trip to Grimsby, should that tie materialise, as the Mariners have an excellent record against the London outfit in recent years.

Elsewhere holders Liverpool have been drawn to face Arsenal at Highbury in the plum tie of the round, and ex-Town boss Lennie Lawrence's Cardiff City have been rewarded for beating Leeds today with a home fixture against Walsall or Bradford.

Brighton/Preston v Sheff United
Rotherham/Soton v Crewe/Sheff Wed
Charlton v Walsall/Bradford
Southend/Tranmere v Cardiff
Gillingham v Bristol Rovers
Grimsby/York v Wycombe/Fulham
Darlo/Peterboro vNewcastle
Coventry/Spurs v Stockport/Bolton
Norwich/Chelsea v West Ham
Millwall v Barnsley/Blackburn
Cheltenham v Burnley
Everton v Leyton Orient
West Brom v Leicester
Wim'don/Mid'boro v Manchester Utd
Ipswich v Manchester City
Arsenal v Liverpool

Ties to be played on January 26 and 27.
