Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

Complaints by Disabled

I READ with interest the article on a disabled person going to watch a match and getting refused an autograph by a player sitting on the bench.

Home > Features > Complaints by Disabled

I am disabled and would not even dream think about asking for an autograph whilst the player was on the bench during a game as he has more to think about watching his team and how they are playing in case he is called on as a substitute.

I too do not get many chances to see a football game at a ground, and using the excuse, and hoping for a vote of sympathy because he is disabled to get the autograph is deplorable. The fact also that he had the reason to name the player is somewhat below the belt.

If the guy wants an autograph from a player he should go to the dressing room AFTER the match, as I feel sure most clubs would allow him to if he asked prior to the game, and ask for the autograph then.

It does work as I have done it myself. AND THATS WITHOUT PLAYING THE "I AM DISABLED" CARD.

I hope that this guy's total and blatant self-pitying complaint does not tarnish all of us disabled people that live life as a normal football fan and do not wish to use our disabilities as an excuse just to get an autograph.

We are not all like him I can assure you and realise that players have more to think about than giving autographs during the match.
