Groves Doubtful for Saturday

GRIMSBY player-manager Paul Groves is an early doubt for next weekend's clash with Reading at Blundell Park after picking up a calf strain against Brighton.

Groves was taken off during the welcome three points picked up at The Withdean Stadium and has admitted that the injury will need to be treated quickly if he is to have a chance of playing against the Royals.

"I had to come off during the win at Brighton and the problem is somewhere in and around the calf muscle area. It's very sore and I'll get the physio to have a look at it and see where we go from there," Groves told the Grimsby Telegraph.

As for the performance against at Brighton, the Town player boss was happy and relieved that his side managed to notch up their first league win of the season.

"The lads deserved it and not once have their heads dropped even though we have not had the bounce of the ball so far this season.

"It was an important victory and we would like to think that we can build on that in the coming games," he added.
