Can We Fix It? - Bob The Builder!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 13/04/2004

WITH Yesterday's defeat by Blackpool, The Mariners now find themselves deep in the relegation pits and looking like they cannot fight their way out.

Survival is still a possibility. The word probability has been struck from the dictionary and, I am advised by those who have seen Town play this season, that our chances are minimal.

Manager Nicky Law still thinks we can do it. But he has to, he is the manager but he didn't hold out much hope saying; "Yes, why not, but we have to win games. We have to beat Rushden, we have to beat Brentford and we have to beat Stockport, and if we can beat Tranmere, but on today's performance we can't beat anybody."

A comment echoed by David Burns at the end of the game when he said; "That's the whistle to end a game in which Grimsby had no fight, no guts, no tactics, no idea and no hope. A loud thud was heard here as Grimsby dropped into the third division"

So, unless something short of a miracle occurs, or someone comes up with a quick fix, we will be playing our Lincolnshire rivals next season.

Unfortunately, Bob The Builder has gone away on his holidays so even he can't fix it. Jimmy Saville does not take on miracles so we are left with Mr Law.

Hope springs eternal they say. We are not dead yet. We have been here before - many times and survived.

But this looks like the toughest of them all. On the other occasions, the lads were up for it.

I wish I could say the same about our current squad.
