Slade Sorting Out Contracts

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 23/05/2005

Russell Slade is back at work trying to sort out the unsigned players as he rebuilds the squad for next season. Talking to the Grimsby Telegraph Slade said: "One of the first things I will be looking to do is speak with Crowey and find out what his intentions are for next season.

"I want to get things moving on this week because we are back in pre-season training in just over four weeks"

"There are players I have in mind to bring in but we need to know where we stand from those that have offers on the table."

"As well as Crowey, there are others like Justin Whittle, Terrell Forbes and Stacy Coldicott who I also want to speak to"

Talking about his signing of Gary Cohen he said ""To get him is a boost for us in the striking department. Gary was with me at Scarborough for a short spell and got something like four goals in just nine games."

"He is still young at 21 but has had a great season for Workington in non-league football, scoring 20 goals. He is quick and can also play out wide if needs be."

"I am hoping he will prove to be a good addition, but I am still looking to strengthen even more throughout the squad."

"I want to bring in another keeper and get cover in all areas really. A couple of other players are due to get back to me, so we'll see what happens - it could be a busy seven days." Earlier reports indicate Fleming may be moving on so that means Slade will also be looking for a replacement for him too.
