New Stadium is the Answer - Fenty

GRIMSBY Town Football Club chairman John Fenty in a statement to the Grimsby Telegraph today, sympathised with the crowds who queued for tickets. Saying that the unprecedented demand for tickets proved the need for a new stadium.

Fenty told the Telegraph; "It is sad all the fans cannot be accommodated when the fortunes of the club are on the up. We are naturally disappointed the club cannot capitalise fully. "It reinforces the argument for a new stadium which remains at the top of the club's agenda.

"Scenes like this will hopefully bring together the political support that is vital for the club to have a new home.

"We are working hard behind the scenes and believe there is a real opportunity for the project to become a reality."

On the temporary seating at the Constitutional Corner he said; "The demand has been unbelievable and fans have been here since 2am, some camping out waiting for the ticket office to open.

"We are sending people away with hope. The real hope is that these people who have queued today will go away with these vouchers and get tickets on a first-come-first-served basis, subject to availability.

"It has been a monumental time for everyone at Grimsby Town FC. There is a real fan base, a potential that we have unlocked."

Mr Fenty also said that the two-stubs- per-ticket system was the fairest way of allocating seats.
