FORMER Grimsby defender Matt Bloomer is training with the Mariners during the week in order to save commuting to Cambridge United, whom he joined in the summer. Local lad Blooms has played for Grimsby, Hull and most recently Lincoln. He had a month on loan at Blundell Park last season.

  • Town took a look at 23-year-old defender Connor Rafferty in this week's reserve friendly game against Barnsley which Town lost. The Irish central defender was release by Wolves in the summer and is available as a free agent. Town lost the game 3-1, their 30th consecutive reserve game without a win.

  • Peter Bore won the Fishy's "Player of the Month" competition for August, meaning he is currently in the lead for the overall Player of the Season for 2006-2007. Bore recently signed a three year contract, tying him to Blundell Park until at least 2009.
