No Posh Contact - Newey

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 05/11/2007

Grimsby left-back Tom Newey has insisted that he has not been in contact with League Two rivals Peterborough about a move to London Road and has not yet heard from them.

Darren Ferguson's side released a statement over the weekend confirming that they had made enquiries for Lincoln midfielder Lee Frecklington, Chelmsford City winger Ricky Holmes and Newey but the 24-year-old is in the dark about any move.

He said: "I haven't really heard anything to be honest with you."

"All I've heard is that they made an enquiry but nobody has mentioned anything to me."

"As far as I'm concerned I'll just go into training as usual and until someone from Grimsby tells me different I'll remain a Grimsby player."
