Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

Buckley Loan Quota Used

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 08/03/2001

"I achieved three promotions and won two Wembley finals at Grimsby on limited funds and with crowds which were less than Lincoln could expect in a similar position so I know what I'm dealing with," said Alan Buckley today after hearing the bad news about his loans bid.

With Buckley expecting to make a loans raid on his former club Grimsby Town, he was shocked to find that Lincoln City had already used up their loan quota which means he has to manage with what he has which prompted the above remarks to the Grimsby Telegraph in an interview.

"I am staggered and disappointed to hear we have used our permitted quota of loans," said Buckley. "Normally at this stage of the season I would have used maybe one or two.

"I know people have different ways of doing things, but with deadline day coming up in a couple of weeks I would have liked to have the option - especially when you consider the illness, injury and suspension problems we have at the moment."

Buckley has made a brilliant start with Lincoln winning their first two games since he took charge and this Saturday they face Cardiff City at Sincil Bank. Cardiff who are sitting in promotion position will not be easy but Lincoln are on a run with Buckley and will go all out to show what they can achieve.
