Tomorrow the AGM of Grimsby Town Football club takes place.

The board is putting forward proposals to bring GTFC in line with most other clubs and is seeking changes to the current Memorandum and Articles of Association. These changes will enable the board to manage the club in a more commercial environment and create additional avenues of income.

In proposing the changes the Chairman, Doug Everitt states:

"My purpose in seeking adoption of a modern Memorandum and Articles of Association, as recommended and agreed by the Football Association in accordance with the practice followed by many of the leading Premier and First Division Football Clubs, is to enable the current and any future Board of Directors of GTFC, to take both the commercial and as a consequence the football activities of the Company forward in a positive, professional and dynamic way. These opportunities are not currently afforded to the Board of Directors of the Company under its present Memorandum and Articles, which date back to eighteen ninety one (1891)."

It is hoped that the shareholders will cast aside any factional differences that may exist and in their voting give the board sufficient authority to make the desired changes.

The recent decision by NELC to block the move to Great Coates has already delivered a severe blow to the plans for the future success of the club and it would be a great pity if factional differences further inhibited the club in its aim for a successful future.

These are critical times for GTFC and one would hope that all concerned will put aside personal differences and act in the best interests of the club. The voting tomorrow will really decide the future of the club and is dependent on all parties to pull together.

Let us hope that they do.
