Ellison to Return to Filbert Street

LEICESTER CITY winger Kevin Ellison missed out on this afternoon's friendly in Denmark as he was struggling with a thigh strain. The injury means the 21-year-old winger will have to return to Filbert Street to prove his fitness, without having kicked a ball in anger for Grimsby.

"I'm disappointed obviously, but he's not going to be fit to play." said Grimsby boss Lennie Lawrence. "He's going to have to go back to Leicester for treatment and we can't do anything if he's not fit. He's not coming back, if Leicester still want to do it, unless he's 100 per cent fit. It's disappointing for all parties but let's hope that we can move it along."

Ellison is a striker who made his name in non-league football with Altrincham, scoring 14 goals in 35 starts, before Leicester City snapped him up for £50,000 in February 2001. Lennie Lawrence had hoped to emulate last year's loan, also from the Foxes, of midfielder Stuart Campbell, and bring the Liverpool-born utility player to Blundell Park on an extended loan.
