Notts County Second Half

TOWN began the second half unchanged and Town fans must have barely had time to take their seats before the ball was once again in the County net.

John-Paul Kalala picked up the ball in midfield and in acres of space was allowed to hit a screamer from 30-yards, which rattled in off the underside of the bar past an understandably bemused goalkeeper. Things then went from bad to worse for Notts, in a torrid five minutes, when Lewis McMahon received his marching orders for a blatant elbow on Paul Bolland, who was also forced to leave the field, through the subsequent head injury he received.

Slade then once again took this opportunity to rotate his players and experiment slightly, with Ciaran Toner getting his longest run out in Town shirt so far, in place of the unfortunate Bolland. County continued to try and drag themselves back into the game and nearly capitalised on a poor Jones back pass to do so but once again the big man managed to recover. Gary Cohen then replaced the tiring Reddy, who has earned a well deserved rest after his gutsy performances against Tottenham and Boston. Mildenhall then made a couple of flashy saves before Tom Newey became Town's third replacement to be introduced into the game with Parkinson making way on the left. He made an almost immediate impact to create the fourth and final goal for fellow sub Gary Cohen, with his run and cross down the left leaving the Londoner a simple tap-in for his first Mariners goal.

This prompted many of the away support to trudge out of the ground much to the delight of the Grimsby crowd and in the Pontoon, a conga line signalled the party mood at which the crowd were now in. Slade's team once again were given a good reception after the final whistle and surely every Town fan left the ground pondering the same thing; can this form be sustained? This will be answered with Town's performances over the vital next few weeks, starting at Shrewsbury on Saturday.

Full Time: Town 4 Notts County 0

MOM: Martin Gritton- Worked tirelessly up front. Best game for Town. Deserved his goal.
