Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

Beat the Bookies: Week 16

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 16/11/2005

TOWN finally recorded a home win last weekend which was good news for everyone, but bad news for Beat the Bookies!

Home > 2005-2006 Season > Beat the Bookies > Week 16

This weekend sees Town face highly tipped Wycombe at Adams Park. The Chairboys, like Grimsby, have a superior away record to that on their own pitch . Although they have not lost any of their games this season, Wycombe have drawn 6 out 9 matches at home so far. bet365.com make Town 13/5, Wycombe 10/11 and a draw 9/4. Although Wycombe have lost top scorer Nathan Tyson to Forest, Tyson didn't play in the 1-0 Wycombe win at Blundell Park, but Wycombe on the day still looked the best side we have played so far this season even without him.

Wycombe's not so secret weapon is of course the ubiquitous Tommy Mooney, who will be looking for his tenth career goal against Grimsby. bet365.com make Mooney 9/2 to score the first goal in the game, 9/2 to score the last goal in the game or 5/4 to score at all. With Mooney's record against Town, he would seem certain to score against the Mariners at some stage, especially with Rob Jones still missing in the heart of Grimsby's defence.

Finally a mention must go to Wigan, the surprise package in the Premisership this season. The Latics, despite being the form horse and at home, are an amazing 7/2 to beat Arsenal on Saturday with bet365.com. How many times this season have we seem the bookies favour reputations over form?
