New Blood Needed

THE disappointing loss to Stockport last night has convinced Russell Slade that he needs to strengthen the squad further. He acknowledged that the absence of Whittle may have had a bearing on recent results but feels there was enough depth in the squad to win.

Slade has made it clear that changes may be needed against Peterborough but feels new additions to the squad are needed.

Talking to the Grimsby Telegraph he said; "You could say we may be missing Justin Whittle because he is a no-nonsense defender. But there was enough out there to win a football match at Stockport."

"I still think we could do with some more strength in depth though. It's something I'll have to discuss with the chairman and see if we can strengthen us up."

"We want to go up and that's our ambition and I would rather do that automatically".

"To do that I think we will need to strengthen, maybe across the middle of the park or up front."
