I remember when we used to go the chippy with no money and ask them if we could have a bag of scraps for free, nine out of ten times you would walk out with a bag of crispy fat. Same when the Ice cream van came around, there were always a few moneyless chancers asking if they had any broken cornets going? "Lovelly stuff! not my words but the words of Shakin Stevens."
