I think it will be a close game as Trinity are a very good side. Lets not forget they could of been in our league if they had not of lost in the play-off final and if they are playing their strongest team then I think it will be close.

We should bear in mind that Gainsborough are nearly a BSP side and will be fired up to beat us.  Not sure why anyone predicted a thrashing by Town today - this is like Braintree away and a narrow win would be a good result considering the mixed up sides being played in each half and the youth team in defense.

I went to the Gainsborough v nuneaton playoff final and I thought the quality at this level was absolute shite I even said at the time what ever team wins this they'll be coming straight back down, I know it's only pre season but any bsp team with Promotion aspirations should be beating pub teams like this comfortably.

Trinity are absolutley loaded though, the owner is minted and is married to the heiress of the Wilkinson stores, hence why in the last few seasons they've had a big name manager in Brian Little and a massive crop full of Football League players who dropped down whilst still in there prime, unfortunatley for them it didn't work and they seem to be doing what we are doing now and signing up and coming younger players. I think if they went up they would establish themselves as a Conference team, plus there building a new stadium with the vision of getting into the Football League.

As long as we are not getting hammered I am not really bothered. The first couple of games are about fitness and getting match time this is shown by the fact we having 10 subs at half time and having 16 year old boys playing. I would be more concerned if we were playing a full stregnth team and getting thrashed.

Cant moan, scored goals again which against any opposition is good. When you have yt players playing its hard to judge a team. Hopefully from tuesday we will start letting our first team gel with less youth players playing. UTM

Shame on you, Tagg, for being so negative.  We staged a comeback against Gainsborough Trinity and managed not to lose!    

I hope Mr Fenty isn't running his critical eye over things though.  Perhaps it's 'only pre-season', but was it the Alan Buckley Mark 3 pre-season when Mr Fenty 'saw the writing on the wall'?  I definitely remember JF saying it just after one of our managers was sacked.

Someone mentioned Lee Ridley - did he play well?  And... was Michael Leary there?

Maybe a lot of it is because we're so used bo being far ahead of them and expecting (rightly) a good win against them. But we're not so far ahead of them any more, and this probably would've been a tough game regardless of who we'd put out.
