In terms of local teams, who do we dislike the most? Although I love the games, I don't hate Lincoln, I don't know why, just don't find them a rival, seem quite a family orientated club. Reckon hull could have been a great rivalry if we had played them more.

For me Scunny, Hull, & Chesterfield.

Lincoln are nothing but a day out to me, though some of their lot see us as a major rival

Scunny for me, Hull has died down abit as we have not played them in such a long time (except pre season) but I hope one day it returns. I enjoy playing Lincoln but don't see them as a major rival.

I don't hate any teams. Hate is too strong a word to be used in football.

Biggest local rivals for me though were the 2 Sheffield clubs, Barnsley and to a certain extent Leeds. Only ever saw Scunny, Lincoln and Hull as annoying little brothers.

Contrary to what Lincoln fans would like to believe very few town fans actually seethed as rivals. Only in recent years have we really took any notice of them.

I hate scunny but actually detest hull, not just the team but the place.

Sheff Weds/Scunts for me... Though Notts County and Chesterfield have grown to become big rivals in recent years. Again I'd back up that Lincoln are more a day out than rivals, in fact Boston in league 2 that year had much more significance than even the play off games in my opinion. Though I do hate Man United more than any other english club.

I enjoy very much the Lincoln rivalry because I grew up in the Skegness area and went to school with Lincoln fans. Not only that but in the last ten years they are the the local and Lincolnshire club we have played the most and it is the traditional Lincolnshire derby. Anyone who went to the two games last season and the recent Lincs Senior Cup games can't deny that the atmosphere was electric on each occasion in the Town end.

I was born in Grimsby, lived there until the age of 7 and all my father's side of the family are from Waltham so I have a dislike for Hull due to the Humberside episode and people constantly telling me Grimsby is in Yorkshire. I am not a Yorkie. I remember my grandma sitting me on her kitchen table and telling me and my brother that we were from Lincolnshire NOT Humberside and that we should not forget. It was very serious. I therefore understand and the rivalry but think it matters more to us than them for good reason.

I think our dislike for Yorkshire clubs stems from this and my own is enhanced by the fact that Yorkies invade my part of Lincolnshire every summer!!

Other than that - Wolves (historical an we always seem to get a great turnout against them), Arsenal (why are they so far up their own backside about their 'youth policy and football philosophy?), Man Utd (who doesn't?), West Ham and Tottenham.

I have known rivalries down the years: Lincoln, Taaarrghers.

I dislike the Scunts. . . They've not really been rivals. Usually below us, current positions are just a freak.

Hatred is a strong word and has no place in football. . . Except for Leeds.  I hate Leeds, their behaviour in meggies taking the urine in 84? They always seem to bring out the nastiness in their players, a sgnificant proportion of yheir fans are absolute scum.  When they wete flying jigh, all the plastics flocked to Elland Road (many from gy area), financial cheats. . . and the city itself is a shithole. . I fuck1ng hate Leeds and everything about it (apart from the Wedding Present. . . Top band!)

Like Les I find hate too strong a term for football rivalry. Lets say I get more schadenfruede from some teams than others; Scunthorpe for example.

I do like it when they struggle. Lincoln moderate pleasure and Hull, not at all.

I think it all depends on what era you started following town in:
80s/90s We played hull regulary, so supporters of that era 'hate' ull
00's We played the scunts regulary, so supporters of that era 'hate' the scunts
Now obviously the only team we play is the gimps so fans of this era 'hate' the gimps

Hull was always our biggest derby back in the day ,the gods of relegation and promotion have kept us apart for 25 years but they was always the one for me.We was a bigger club than them back in the 80s and usually got better gates. They was always a rugby town and its only recently they have fancied themselves at football.
I still hope that one day we'll meet them again in the same league with us having a new stadium packed to a 15000 capacity and us taking 4000 to there place.

Scunthorpe just hate us ,even if you meet a non football fan they hate Grimsby and anything to do with it ,they are a bit like the Scottish with a chip on their shoulders about us.The feeling was never the same and until we became a lower league club I never really had any feelings towards them.

Lincoln ive always had a bit of a soft spot for ,their fans and people are usually fair minded and the City itself is a nice place.

All the Yorkshire clubs was treated as derby games by us and we never took many less than at least 2000  and up to 7000 anywhere in Yorkshire.to be fair the likes of barnsley ,Hudds, sheff clubs leeds Bradford always brought good crowds to us too.

Ive never really known us take less than our alloction to any of our derby games ,even pre season its rare for us to take less than a 1000 to any of them .Hull ,Lincon and Scunny have rarely ever brought the same amount to us

1. Hull, any one who has sampled a Humber derby knows that Lincoln and Scumthorpe are way behind in atmosphere and crowd numbers.
2. Lincoln, we have been playing the Gimps on and off for nigh on a hundred years now.
3. Scunts, only became a league club in the early 50's and offer nothing but gloating every time we went through a relegation.  As kingofthekippers points out schadenfruede, they are Nelson from the Simpsons.  The final laugh is on them though, shitier town and club on the brink of extinction.

Supporting the Mighty Mariners for over 30 years, home town club is were the heart and soul is and it's great to be a part of it.

Few hundred came down for the weekend. General thuggery around meggies, ripped out seats, kicked a massive hole in the back of the osmond. . . Their mob ran our mob ragged all day despite our best efforts!

Oh right cheers.
tbh was thinking even earlier possibly back in the 80s too but maybe I'm wrong.

scunthorpe and its people have a hatred for "codheads" which is worryingly disproportionate to football rivalry, therefore they are my number one   team i dislike. leeds utd are also vermin.
hull city fans these days at least have publicly stated on radio humbs that they wish us well and to get promoted back into the league! how anyone here can see them as rivals is beyond me. lincoln are a joke outfit not even worthy of consideration, the one suprise on this thread is that m.k clubtheft dons haven't been mentioned.

Played Scunthorpe regularly in the 00s? No we didn't. We had one season in the same division. We've played Lincoln much more regularly.

Lincoln, Scunny, Hull, Gainsborough, Pretty much all the teams that are close to us.

Fierce rivals Scunny and Hull

Gainsborough are not a rival. Please don't insult us!

Yes in the 80's. . . 84?

I remember a write up in the GET about disgusting Leeds fans urinating in the street and sleeping on the beach!

In reality personally I hate armchair plastic fans more than anyone who makes the effort to turn out and watch their team even a handful of times of year in the big games. People who call Liverpool or Chelsea "we" when they've never been to a game or even the city in question really gets my goat far more than anyone who watches their team play. A big night for these people is to go down the pub and watch their team with like minded saddos. If only they could just appreciate what it's like to go to a live game!

But if we have to hate anyone I would say it varies depending on who is in the same division as us. At the moment it's Lincoln. Hopefully Scunny will be soon! Hull being Yorkies in principle should be the most hated but it has been so long that we've played them, it's hard to summon up much hatred for them.

Ive never really known us take less than our alloction to any of our derby games ,even pre season its rare for us to take less than a 1000 to any of them .Hull ,Lincon and Scunny have rarely ever brought the same amount to us

spot on that

Lincoln is our biggest rival now 'cos we're in the same league- i dont hate them but clearly would like to see us stuff 'em over xmas.

Scunny and 'ull would be bigger rivals if we played them. Hull would be our biggest natural rival , north/south river divide yorkshire/Lincolnshire , fishing etc but the truth is in my lifetime of supporting the mariner s(about 36 seasons) i can only think of a handful when we've actually played them.

As i live in Scuntland these days i wish for the day when we can play(and beat ) them again. But historically i never had a beef with them as we were usually the team in a higher division.

For me Sheff Wed & Barnsley and too a degree Sheff U were the teams I saw as our biggest rivals.

Scunts, ull, Wendy, sheep u, I think they are the main ones

Always disliked anything Newcastle! And the west brom and stoke rivalry that goes back to the 90's was always there.

There seems to be something happening with derby at the mo where they hate us!!

That really annoys me too. There's a plastic Manc who works at our place and on Monday morning he always going on about "we" this and "we" that and AFAIK he's never been to a single Man Utd game.

Contrary to what Lincoln fans would like to believe very few town fans actually seethed as rivals. Only in recent years have we really took any notice of them.

I hate scunny but actually detest hull, not just the team but the place.

Completely agree, their constant jibes of 'it's your cup final' do not fool me at all, it's quite obvious whenever we play them we come out on top most times so they use that as their excuse, bless them.

Hull, Hull and Hull are the three I detest. It's not just the rivalry, history and more recent the jealousy but the horrible droning accent that comes with them.
