So it's gone from a daily update on how well the season ticket sales are going to it being a week since we last was updated. My guess Is they was hoping to bring 'that striker' in by last weekend and extend the ST discount and hoped more would buy one. Would be nice for an update though, is the discount still on or not?

i've really missed the annual 'how many season tickets have we sold?' thread. perhaps this could be the start of it

ps see that danny north scored in Europe on Wednesday.Good player than Danny  North - we let a real diamond slip through our fingers there........

pps do you think there's a chance that peter bore will rejoin us? we need a rampaging right back/skilful winger/proven goalscorer

Peter bore was never a right back..

His pace up front could really help us at the minute

As far as I'm aware, nothing showing on the ST subject since last week's deadline passed, other than a confirmation you can get a free bus ride to and from BP with Stagecoach

They have all gone in hiding and Paul can not find them,

BUT

Just wait until they pop their heads above the parapet  and Paul will snap one or two up.

Either the club have exceeded expectations in the usual early bird promotion period so don't feel the need this year to round up the stragglers with a final tempting offer as they have in the past or they're not so bothered that not everyone might have been able to get sorted until later in the month (when pay day is a bit closer).

If the former then I'm surprised there's not been any positive announcements on the OS or in the GT as selling more than last season for example would be a creditable achievement surely that could have been used to some positive PR advantage

If the latter though, it wouldn't totally surprise me that they're not too bothered about a final push for sales as we've all witnessed some poor admin and promotional issues over the years

Players join clubs mainly for

1.  Money
2.  First team opportunities
3.  Location

Not because one or two say a player isn't good enough.

Surprised they haven't extended it, when was the last time they didn't extend it upto a few weeks before the season starts...

£130 extra is a lot to fork out extra to watch non-league football.

Just attend the Saturday home games, nothing lost then.  You know what they say... "you snooze, you lose..."

You have to remember these are you lads with feelings, some leaving home for the first time,
Fact is they do use facebook, twitter and the internet and when they get tweets from town fans telling them they are not welcome, crap and the likes what do you expect them to do. Bullshit excuse that they are footballers so they should expect it.
No one should expect abuse in their workplace that goes for footballers as well.

If that's when you're going to go you won't get to see many Town games over the coming season...

I think I'm right in saying there are just six Saturday afternoons at BP from the start of the season until next January!

Then in 2015 there are only 8 scheduled and that's before the fixtures get moved about because of bad weather, the FA Trophy, TV etc

Think you'll have to find something else to do with your Saturdays....

Lol true.  I'm just sulking because I haven't got one yet. I've always got mine late, hence why I said "you snooze, you lose."

It's true that back in the day I joined up to check in not dig but my last 10 years in the MOB was in field units working with Army wearing non tailored DPM's and bivving it out   .  Not that any saltly sea dog would know about floating in international waters away from any real danger and sunburn doesn't count

Abuse in the workplace isn't acceptable at all but certain trades have to deal with this as part and parcel of the job.  Firemen go into fires and highly dangerous chemicals accidents, Police deal with drunks, Ambulance/hospital staff deal with druggies and mental patients and footballers just have to deal with a few people airing their views on social media, not really that big of a deal  is it.

sorry I disagree, Just because you feel it acceptable to abuse people on social media does not make it right,
I know for a fact we lost on potential striker because he was worried about the abuse he would get if he did not preform from day 1, like I said before some of these are just kids who play  on confidence  which can soon be sapped by so called fans so easily

If I was a player abuse I received in the ground on matchdays from home supporters (which is almost always present when things are not going well, and often even when it is) would upset me far more than comments on the Internet. I don't see anyone getting kicked out for having a go at players for not trying/getting stuck in/tracking back/staying onside/being themselves/passing when they should have shot/shooting when they should have passed/diving/whatever. You can't make racist abuse at a player any more on matchdays but you can more or less scream any amount of abuse at one on matchdays and nobody bats an eyelid.

Find it a bit strange that the club didn't announce there would be an extension as they have done in previous years

Going by the latest publicity details the early bird offer had expired, that was it, end of

Good to hear that you got yours sorted out though....wish I'd taken the trouble to call in when I was in GY at the weekend but there was no indication you could still get the deal

I never said it was acceptable I stated that it is part of life in any job you do when you wear big boy trousers.  If we lost a striker because he was worried about the abuse then that is the sort of player who will always be non league.  It wasn't so long ago that Scunthrape fans drove a good player out mid season through abuse, it happens anywhere, even if there is a small fan base like the scunts.

Is that a definite or just wishful thinking?
Yup, definite, I rang the ticket office this afternoon.

Spot on with their marketing and PR as usual then!

Rob made a good point re. the abuse players get both in the ground during matches and then on social media.

It's a difficult topic, and my thoughts are that if you don't want to be abused on social media then don't set up any accounts. We don't come into this world online so it's a simple choice of making that leap or staying well away from it.

It'd be just one more of many sacrifices players make in order to be professional footballers.

That also reminds me of the time Rooney scored that goal against Arsenal when he was 16. Moyes apparently told him to go home that night and spend it with him mates and family because, after that, he wouldn't be able to do even the simplest of things like kick a ball around in a street with his school mates.

Professional footballers make sacrifices all the time and it's completely their choice whether they want to put themselves in environments where they face potential abuse.

It's not right that they should face serious abuse, though. I think more can be done to control and eradicate it, but that's a much, much wider issue.

No problem, I just thought I would let people know.  It does seem strange that the club did not in any way let people know it was extended.

As for the negatives, I see it on other posts where there’s absolutely nothing wrong or controversial with a post, in that case I usually post a postive to negate whoever negative someone.

All abit sad really.

tickets have obviously come to A stand still for the past couple weeks, typical GTFC.. Keep us informed when they're selling well and instead of trying to drive the sales forward when they've slowed down they keep quiet
