Do we know if it is 1st eleven v 1st eleven or 22 random blokes from both clubs having a half each?

Difficult to call either way, but I'll go for 3-1 to Donny with a gate of 1,037: 186 being from Yorkshire.

Donny had about 7 trialists when they lost to lincoln last week, pretty sure they'll put out a stronger team this time around.

6500 crowd see Town leading 3-0 with a perfect hat trick from an unstoppable Pittman, before he goes down in the 85th minute with pulled hamstring so blowing his chance of a contract.paul hurst promptly signs ironside.

Decent opposition, NOT the trialist-filled Donny team from their first two friendlies. Town however have begun the game like a bunch of trialists who have met 2 hours before kick off, by the sound of things.

According to Twitter, Town were playing 4-4-2 first half, but are now playing 4-3-3 and making a better fist of it now.

yes its early days yet and ; lets face it we have not even beaten easy any of our pre season opponents , so we are not going to beat donny.. but having said that, you could give Hurst the German world cup team, and he wouldnt get us out this league

Bit of poor defending for the first two but don't get me wrong every single goal has been top quality and each received a round of applause ! Not impressed at all by Ironside or clay infact they are pretty awful !!! Pitman looks a very decent player though, Arnold is having a good game as well !

I was abit to early to comment on Ironside had a decent end to the game tbh but I hope we don't sign him tbh think he's to similar to what we've already had and has no pace what so ever ! Good luck to him whatever happens though

Odd to say, but not quite as disastrous a defeat as the 4-0 scoreline might indicate!

They were quick out of the blocks, to say the least, and scored after about 10 seconds. As throughout most of the first half, they just ran past our midfield pairing of McLaughlin and Clay (who looked hopeless) and finished coolly. Their No. 10 and No. 11 both looked to be excellent players and the No. 9 up front and No. 14 were both strong, quick and skilful as well. The defence looked all at sea for their goals but, for the first two, the damage was done with runs through from the midfield area. The third goal was just a bit sloppy as a decent cross in from our right went straight across to their other winger and the defence didn't sort themselves out quickly enough leaving a tap-in.

Attacking-wise, we had a couple of chances in the first half and Pittman looked strong and quick, if not on the same wavelength as his teammates. In particular, he passed the ball to Arnold too early allowing the defender to get back and block his effort.

Second half, they almost scored straight away as their No. 11 belted a long-range free-kick onto the post but after that, they didn't offer a huge amount, especially after their No. 10 was subbed. We improved a great deal with the introduction of Brown for McLaughlin and had several chances to score. Arnold was running clean through the middle and was cynically pulled down - would have been a red card in a competitive game, but just a free-kick in this one. Really not necessary in a friendly match and, if I'd been the referee I'd have done something about it. After that, Pearson headed over from a few yards after a good cross from Brown. Needs to start scoring that sort of a chance. Arnold lobbed wide after running through onto a long ball and Aswad lifted the ball over both the keeper and the bar when played in. We also forced a few saves but conceded fourth goal near the end after failing to clear properly following a corner. Very sloppy and I'd have been livid if it had been a competitive game.

Ultimately, they were a lot better than us in the first half, but we did improve in the second. Same old story, however - they scored with practically every chance they had and we failed to put any of them in the back of the net!

All in all, I'd say that Pittman looks like he might be a good signing - strong, pacy and direct. Neither Clay nor Ironside look nearly up to the task. Clay was just too slow and too out of position and Ironside looked both clumsy and a bit lightweight although the referee allowed loads of fouls against him to go unpunished. I'm sure we can do better than these two, especially Clay.

Mackreth looked nippy and tidy without ever really breaking away from their defence, Arnold was a bit in and out of the game but looked pacy and aggressive and could be a very useful player this season.

Nsiala was exposed a few times against some of their pacy forwards but did improve as the game went on and Magnay struggled against their No. 11 who, admittedly, looked very good.

Brown looked lively when he came on and put some good passes through midfield, linking up well with Neilson. I think we'd have done a lot better tonight with a first choice midfield of Brown and Disley.

I'm slightly disappointed that the defence didn't do better tonight, but we shouldn't be facing an attack as quick and skilful as that again this season so hopefully we can improve from there. Also slightly disappointed that Hannah didn't get into the game enough when he came on.

On the evidence of tonight, McLaughlin won't be more than a back-up for injury so we certainly could do with a different option in central midfield.

To be fair to Magnay, he struggled, but their No. 11 looked very good - too good for our level.

Clay was hopeless, but I think Paddy wasn't much better than him. The fact that the midfield pairing were utterly outplayed during the first half was, to a great degree, why they waltzed into such an easy lead. We were greatly improved by the arrival of Brown.

Informative, detailed post.

Cheers for that, didn't realise there would be a market for this.

Clawed back some losses. Very generous odds on Donny.

Well I hope we never have to meet the ability of there no.11 wk in wk out. Our right back is getting a runaround, I'm actually wishing bignot was on the pitch.

We will never meet players of Donnys ability every week, thats why they play at that level and our players are playing conference football because that is their level.I thought we gave them a good game last night but true class showed the difference between the two teams in all departments. What really matters is how we play against opposition at our level in the conference this season. UTM..

Ironside looking decent 2nd half, he's like a slow Livvo

So you think someone playing like a slow Livvo looks decent then ?. I thought Ironside only came on in the second half.I could be wrong it's not easy to see the numbers from the back row of the upper findus.

I was just jesting as he's not the quickest but he has that unrushed quality on the ball that Livvo and the lump had, I'm not suggesting he is anywhere near that level but he is still very young.

I have to say, I seem to have watched a different player to you last night! He looked an awkward, clumsy player to me (though he was getting shoved around by the defenders), and I didn't think he showed anything in the way of calmness on the ball! Obviously still a young lad but you'd think that at 20 he would have developed physically and he didn't really seem to have much more to offer than Cook in that respect.

If he's cheap as chips, I suppose he could be signed as 'another body in the building', so to speak, but I didn't really see all that much potential there - I suppose you shouldn't really expect much from a 5th choice striker, but I'd still hope for a bit more.

I actually thought Paddy played quite well last night - always looking for the ball and tried to get things going. With the right partner (Brown) I think he'd excel!

For me, Paddy looked slow and lightweight, albeit alongside the almost invisible Clay. There were numerous occasions in the first half where runners from midfield were just allowed to run through the middle into the attack with our central pairing nowhere to be seen.

He's certainly got some ability, but I've never been quite convinced that he has the physical strength or pace to be a central midfielder. I think he's still a decent enough option off the bench to cover a couple of positions, however.

Sorry Maringer but I don't agree with you on Paddy being slow.I thought he played well last night I think he put a good shift in,taking in to consideration he was having to cover for Clay a lot of the time. I do agree that he is a bit lightweight and could do with beefing up a tad..

Well, perhaps not really slow - just not at all quick! As he's pretty slight, you tend to expect him to be a bit nippier, but he just isn't.

I dare say he might function quite well in a midfield 3 but I'm not sure how often we will play such a formation, despite Hurst's comments the other day.
