GTFC tweeted he is signing number 5 but the link to the site is corrupt

Defence sorted. The attack is almost there and i'm not sure on the midfield. Still think we could do with a key signing in the centre but not sure Hurst is looking there.

PH hardly ever signs a poor defender. This fella will be fine. Defence sorted I would have thought. Welcome Richard.

Really pleased with that one, didn't realise he was only 25. Sounds like an excellent, dependable full back.

I don't like making claims about how we compare to other conference sides but I would be very surprised if any other team can put out a back 4 + GK that are as good as ours.

Agreed but defence has never been a problem. It's our attacking play that has let us down in previous seasons.

I agree but I think it's easy to forget that not too long ago we thought we'd lose virtually all of the defence from last season. At various stages I'd given up on Pearson & Toto staying, and obviously we lost our POTY. Gowling's cheeky tweet had me thinking he was off too.

A good defence alone may not be enough, but going in to a season genuinely believe we will concede fewer goals than any other side is a hell of a starting point.

Welcome Richard, think it will be a top signing.

Will be very interesting to see what the defence will look like, with East and Tait battling for the right back position it seems.

I think if you look at the teams that park the bus at the Park, then hit us on a set piece or a cheeky goal and take the points, i'm happy to strengthen the back 4 to try and pinch more of these games than we lose. Blundell Park HAS to be a fortress this season to give us a chance.

I think Tait will be first choice. My gut instinct is that East will be a Parslow upgrade, covering full back and holding midfield roles when required.

Interesting to see he has the number 2 shirt which might indicate that he'll be first choice right back with East more as utility.

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

East was never going to be first choice anyway imo, with his injury issues and versatility it made sense to bring it a right back who will be in the starting 11. I think that's the defence sorted and Tait looks just as good as the rest of them.

Attacking wise I'd like to think we'll be getting a first choice striker and to finish things off get in possibly one more central midfielder. Not sure how likely the latter one is but I see a space there for maybe a youngster with a bit of energy, maybe a young loanee.

Sounds like a good signing. If he's quick-ish as reported, that is good as it is always useful to have a bit of pace at full-back. Gives the opposition winger something to think about from the off.

Can't believe we've almost signed a full squad by the end of June! A bit of a difference to the usual state of affairs.

Good signing from what I've have seen of him, we are looking good for the coming season and I am feeling very positive, another striker and we're almost there.

Roll on August!

Have to hand it to Hurst - he certainly hasn't sat around during the season break. Almost got a (quality) full squad sorted with plenty of time to train, and get to know each other.

I have extremely high hopes for this season.

Moving up here, left his girlfriend in London! lol

Spoke to Hurst, then spoke to Nathan Arnold and Ian Miller, both praised the club.

Tait said, didn't take much convicing to come, the Town fans are really hostile against the opposition, tough place to come and they really get behind the team, said it will be really good to be playing in front of this crowd.

So we've lost John Lewis but we've signed Taits. One shop for another.

(yes I know it's spelt "Tates")

It would appear Cambridge are the new York. Arnold, Tait and possibly Bird.

Lenny was from the south and Brown, Mackreth and Toto are from Liverpool and there was never any sign of home sickness from any of them.

If we get promoted  - sorry , when we get promoted , PH might have a completely different idea of how to approach playing in the league. I'm sure he will assess all our squad over the season and see who he feels could handle league football consistently.
