sounds a little too close to Greg Dyke's B teams idea

I know what you mean but unfortunately a lot of reserve football is hardly competitive.

The games tend to get postponed and fixtures altered as well so there's no regularity of games. There's not many teams in the league anyway and there can be long gaps in the fixture list.

Now that we have a reserve side I hope there development is aided much more than the 3 poor lads last year, that just trained and got no game time.

They obviously weren't good enough. Hurst has shown that he will play youth teamers if they have what it takes.

I think having a reserve team this season will really benefit the Youth Squad. It's only a shame that the reserves can't play in a league lower down the pyramid such as Briggs level. This would bring them up against old ex professionals and give them a better experience of what league football is all about.

I remember the days when the reserve side played in the Midland League.

If we are absolutely flying Hursty won't be under intense pressure (for his job) and as such we could maybe blood these boys a bit better -especially if 2 or 3 nil up and cruising ever. Missed County but Clifton impressed me v Terriers.

I hope bit the young lads get some league time but I think their chance to really shine and grow may be in the tin pot trophy which every year we call for the youth lads to be played instead of the senior squad to keep fresh legs for the league its self
For me I hope Hurst implements this season. A bit of money to be made from the FA trophy but not much if we go on a run. The danger of injury's to first team players and  possible/tiredness and concentration levels dipping and its effect in derailing league form has to be taken into consideration by Hurst seriously. Hopefully like you have said he does play the youths/ fringe players because with the extra money raised by the fans full priority has to be given to the league and the dream we all share

One life,one love .
