One for the statisticians amongst you. Just to settle an argument, can someone tell me the lowest ever home gate since being at Blundell Park. Thanks.

Without looking through the stats......I would think that the LDV game against Morecambe in the mid 2000s comes close.........was it around the 500 mark?

I think for a league game it was the 1,833 poor sods, including myself, who turned up on May 3rd 1969 to see us lose 2-0 to Brentford, whilst at the same time there was live Home International football on the TV, a rare occurrence in those days.

Yep....your right....970 for a Sherpa Van Trophy game in December 1987. Pretty sure there would have been less for Lincs Cup games against the likes of Spalding, Grantham etc.

Correct, that was the lowest for a league game. I don't know exactly how many it was but the lowest gate for a first team game is probably the one against Boston in The Lincs Cup one season. I think there were only about 300 or so there to witness Paul Futchers only ever goal for us.

I can remember a night league game against Kettering a few seasons ago when I think there was only about 2200 there, and the FA Trophy games v Coalville and Redditch when there were little over 1000 there. Obviously most Lincs Cup games were even lower.

Off top of my head, 1131 of us there, 1-1 draw, a youth player scored from what was a cross which ended up going in top corner by accident, lost on pens...

That's the lowest attendance at a league game and I was in the Pontoon that day.

What memories. Paul Ashton. Steve Slade (no relation) randomly started up front and Tony Crane hit a penalty halfway to Scunthorpe.

All a matter of decimal points, sure I was there once with under 1.012 thousand then another day against Rochdale or some other team with over 54.000. Was probably drunk though.

On the subject of cup games, we also had the FA Cup replay against Carlisle when G.Jones scored one of my favourite BP goals.
I think there were sub 2000 there that night. Seem to think they only opened the Findus and the Osmond?

You must have been stood next to me then, This season we have not had a league gate under 4,200 yet, I wonder how long that will last.

One day that ball will meet JPP's penalty at Wembley ball somewhere in the universe and form a new galaxy. I do remember that as one of the highlights of that night in a way. We had that bizarre goal but hitting the roof advertising on the Pontoon off the ground is something that cannot be taught.

I went to that one and remember vividly how low I thought we'd sank! Little did we know at the time..........

I sat in the Main Stand that night so definitely was the full ground open. Great goal though. One-two with Danny North (I think) on the edge of the area, return pass was a Tony Rees like backheel. Outside of the boot curler from Jones straight into the top corner.

Remember that goal well. Was there really that low a crowd for that game? My long term memory is rubbish.

BBC typo, that's Leigh Overton, random youth goalkeeper back then.
