I wonder what implications this will have on the rest of the VW group of companies?

Audi, Seat, Skoda are pretty much the same car.

As you note, that's not the way the world works.

Shareholders will take a big hit, untold thousands (millions?) of people will have had their health damaged by the illicit pollutants, but one thing you can guarantee is that the people who planned the con will get away practically scot free.

Same as it ever was....from what I know of VW though someone, somewhere along the line will have sanctioned the fitting of the computer software, knowing full well the benefits and the risks

Every individual part that a vehicle is made up of is scrutinised by different departments in the company before models go in to production so someone, maybe many, knew exactly what they were doing both in proposing the idea to cheat the system and again in sanctioning vehicles to be fitted ahead of them being released to the world

It's no accident by any means so there should be some evidence somewhere in Wolfsburg's planning documentation but the chances are the proof has already been removed, well before this situation was exposed in the media
