St Albans are the 197th different team Grimsby have played, Who will be the 200th? It will probably be this season. You can find a complete record of all the games we have ever played here: http://www.thefishy.co.uk/resultsdb.phpHere's the 197. When a team has changed it name it doesn't count as a new team, AFC Wimbledon Accrington S Aldershot Alfreton Altrincham Arsenal Ashington Aston Villa Attercliffe Barnet Barnsley Barrow Bath C Birmingham Blackburn Blackpool Blyth Sptns Bolton Bootle Boreham Wood Boston Boston Town Bournemouth Bradford Bradford Park Ave. Braintree Brentford Brighton Bristol C Bristol R Bromley Burnley Burton Albion Burton United Burton Wanderers Bury Buxton C Palace Cambridge U Cardiff Carlisle Charlton Chasetown Chelsea Cheltenham Chester Chesterfield Cleethorpes Cleethorpes Town Coalville Colchester Coventry Crawley Town Crewe Croydon Common Dagenham Darlington Dartford Darwen Derby Doncaster Dover Droylesden Durham City Eastbourne Eastleigh Ebbsfleet Ecclesfield Everton Exeter Fleetwood Forest Green Fulham Gainsborough Gateshead Gateshead Utd Gillingham Glossop Grantham Rovers Grantham Town Guiseley Halifax Harrogate Hartlepool Havant and Waterlooville Hayes & Yeading Heeley Hereford Hinkley Histon Hornchurch Huddersfield Hull City Hull Town Hyde Ipswich Kettering Kidderminster Kilnhurst Leeds Leeds City Leicester Leyton Orient Lincoln Liverpool Long Eaton Rangers Loughborough Luton MK Dons Macclesfield Maidenhead Maidstone United Man City Man Utd Mansfield Merthyr Town Mexborough Middlesbro Middlsbro Irnoplis Millwall Morecambe Nelson Netherfield New Brighton New Brighton Tower Newark Newcastle Newcastle W E Newport County Northampton Northwich Norwich Nottm Forest Notts Co Nuneaton Old Carthusians Old Foresters Oldham Oxford Peterborough Phoenix Bessemer Plymouth Port Vale Portsmouth Preston QPR Reading Redcar Redditch Rhyl Rochdale Rotherham Rotherham Town Runcorn Rushall Olympic Rushden Salisbury Scarborough Scunthorpe Sheff Utd Sheff Wed Shrewsbury Southampton Southend Southport St Albans Stalybridge Staveley Stockport Stockton Stoke Sunderland Sunderland Albion Swansea Swindon Tamworth Telford Torquay Tottenham Tranmere Tufnell Park Walsall Watford Welling West Brom West Ham Wigan Wigan Borough Witton Albion Woking Wolves Workington Worksop Town Wrexham Wycombe Yeovil York

Phoenix Bessemer intrigued me enough to look them up. Entered the FA Cup in 1882/3 is all the info Wiki had on them.
Was a steelworks in us Rotherham apparenty.

That's a cool little database rob. Can't believe we haven't played Manchester United for nearly 70 years and only played them once ever in the fa cup. That's unlucky!

Grimsby Town 5 Cleethorpes 0 in the FA Cup in 1885-1886 must have been a cracker. Bet there were celebrations long into the night

Doubt it will be this season Rob, we won't be playing anyone new in the league so it has to be in trophy or FA cup. Who are the most glamorous team we could draw in the 3rd round of the FA Cup to make it 200 i.e. the team highest up the pyramid we haven't yet played.

Suits me 15 mins from my house and looking at them if we went for it we would beat them, though I was surprised they beat Gillingham yesterday. If not on the pitch our away support would overwhelm them.

What about the Italian sides we played in the Anglo Italian Cup,
Plus other continental teams we have played in friendlies,
Do you have a list for them as well Rob ?

We drew 1 -1 against Czechoslavakia in 1958. Town's first ever live TV appearance.

Correct, there's a list of the games we played in the Anglo-Italian cup and there are also pages other minor trophies like that such as the Anglo-Scottish cup that we took part in. http://thefishy.co.uk/story.php?id=8393280

That brought back a bad memory of going to Filbert Street...we were dire and a 4-0 defeat flattered us. Arrivederci Roma that night for sure! Bobby Davison got a hat-trick for them if I remember correctly and at the time I remember thinking I'd never seen such a heavily tattooed player. How times change eh!

I could not remember if we played any Italian sides just knew we were in the competition,
BUT
I do remember us playing Brondby in a friendly,
We drew 2-2 I did not realise how big a club they were at the time.

Peter Schmeichel was in goal for Brondby that day IIRC.

Up to 97 on the database but well over 100 if you include the Ibiza cup and the trips to Denmark and Sweden. Not bad as I only average a dozen games a year

Just a quick count but reckon I've seen us against 143 of those, plus a few pre-season friendlies like the Brondby game and I think we played Dundee at home one pre-season too.

Include friendlies, "A" team, Lincs League etc and you'll probably double that lot.

I have only seen us play at 30 of those away grounds, BUT I have been to some of them many times, I am a creature of habit , I think, OR I just like to travel to the ones that it does not take too much time to get to, Even more so since I have been living down here, That has made it easy to get to the wonders of Ebbsfleet, Boreham Wood, Histon Kettering ect, I would like to return to the likes of Cambridge Ipswich and Norwich before I pop my clogs though.

I can remember one time when we played Swansea and losing 4-0 at half time,
Then we scored 3 in the 2nd half but could not get an equaliser,
I was in the Ponny and all 7 goals were scored at that end.

We drew 1 -1 against Czechoslavakia in 1958. Town's first ever live TV appearance.
That draw looks even better now as they're 2 countries these days

I can just imagine the commentator saying Grimsby are the team playing in black and white.

Just a quick count but reckon I've seen us against 143 of those, plus a few pre-season friendlies like the Brondby game and I think we played Dundee at home one pre-season too.
Queen of the South and Kilmarnock spring to mind as well

Correct, there's a list of the games we played in the Anglo-Italian cup and there are also pages other minor trophies like that such as the Anglo-Scottish cup that we took part in. http://thefishy.co.uk/story.php?id=8393280
I think we actually had the choice of whether to go to Italy if we "qualified" and I'm pretty sure we'd decided we wouldn't be going.
