This game is surely under threat? They've got a trophy replay tomorrow night but with lots of rain on saturday and today their pitch can't handle much more?
They'd have to try again, probably next tuesday

I don't see why we should suffer as a result of crap teams having crap pitches, we should be able to play, once again the FA Trophy causing carnage.

We're going to end up with fixture chaos that's definitely 3 games to rearrange plus probably tomorrow's so that's 4 then if we get through to next trophy round that's 5. Plus possibly Aldershot that's 6 games. I wish James Alabi hadn't scored that equaliser against Solihull!

You know something we don't? Someone at Bromley tweeted they aren't concerned about the pitch and it's been dry in London most of the day. Would need an absolute deluge for it to be off.

If Dover beat Guiseley and then beat Nantwich and we lose to Woking we could then play Guiseley on Saturday March 19th when I will be able to have my trip to Guiseley after all! Also is it too late to organise the Southport game or the Woking game for next Tuesday now that Guiseley has been called off?

Neither Southport nor Woking has a game next Tuesday so it seems reasonable...

Wow...the hatred towards the trophy is becoming funny. Blaming pitches? Really? We've all seen the weather, hardly anyone's fault. Had we been knocked out early doors it still wouldn't makers difference, we wouldn't have played on Saturday and we still wouldn't be playing next week...that's just how it is. Moaning isn't really solving anything. Did people moan like this in 97/98 when we had a decent run in all the cup competitions and getting out the league then was hugely important?
In all seriousness I think the reason they won't play on Saturday is because it's a replay, Wealdstone and WSM was the first time they'd played, the replay would've been a midweek.

Exactly the real damage from the FAT hasnt even started yet. I can tell you right now what is going to happen this season. In a few weeks we will have about seven games in hand over Cheltenham. We will probably drop to about eighth place. We will end up playing three games some weeks and if we are lucky win enough to stumble in the playoffs. It screws us up every season.

Yes but if the Trophy didn't exist, which I wish was the case. None of these postponements would have happened, we'd have played at least 3 more league games by now.

Yeah like the only season we got to the final and we made the play offs. Or that season where we made the semi-final, and got to the play offs.

Yeah like the only season we got to the final and we made the play offs. Or that season where we made the semi-final, and got to the play offs.
The two seasons we finished fourth saw us fail to get in the play-off final. We should try at least finish second or third so we get the second leg at BP. The season we lost to Newport was a particular example as the play-off teams were not that strong that year. The following year Gateshead got the refereeing decisions which the home teams tend to, but we could have overturned that deficit had the matches been the other way round. Last year we at least finished third. I'd be surprised if we do that well this year, unless we lose the game to Woking in the FAT. But of course everyone wants to have their cake and eat it so I imagine we will try at least to beat Woking. I am convinced that our infatuation with this miserable competition is screwing up season after season. When I am Chairman it will all be different .

Like Wealdstone v Weston super Mare did? They only tried midweek..several times. I guess its a wait and see job
It would appear that if it was the actual tie that had been postponed it would take precedent over a Saturday league game, but if a replay then it would be a midweek game. What would have happened if the original Wealdstone v Weston super Mare tie had been postponed again, from the GTFC site :- If there be no winner this evening, the replay would be staged on Saturday, meaning the Mariners, who were supposed to welcome the winners to Blundell Park on that day, could be without a game.
Our second round tie would then be moved to Tuesday evening, when it would take precedence over the scheduled league trip to Bromley that night.

Great, I've just organised a few days off next month to take in the Woking away game which won't be happening on it's original date either.
I'm going down to my brothers in Surrey on the Friday before. Hopefully they'll rearrange it for the following Tuesday whilst I'm still down there. Will probably miss the 2nd leg of the trophy semi-final now if we get there, unless we're away at a Southern team. (Sutton would be good if they're still in it as that's not far from where my brother lives)

But we wouldn't have played two more games had we been knocked out...Guiseley would still be off and Saturdays game would've been off because Woking are in the cup...
The trophy does not hurt teams, their own poor form hurts them. We aren't top because we were average at best throughout August and September, fixture pile up would happen regardless, it did last year, if we haven't figured that out now then town deserve intercourse all.

The FA trophy does my head in . It's is the most illogical, badly run competition ever.
The explanation why it's not a Tuesday night competition is because part timers can't get time off work on Tuesday. Why is then they are suddenly available for replays? Surely it's logical that it's either Tuesday night competition or one without replays?
Nobody has explained to me why it's not a tightly regionalised competition - surely this would lower travel costs, increase gates and make it easier for those part timers.
Nobody has explained to me why this isn't played earlier (or pre) season. When pitches are better and there's less chance of postponements.
None of it makes any sense!!!

I'm guessing (and it's a complete punt) it's not early in the season (the trophy starts early October) because of the early rounds of the FA Cup. Teams would then be moaning about not getting any league games in before the bad weather starts.

If I'm honest I really don't like the Trophy. I've been bored to tears for virtually all of the minutes we've played in this competition this season and that's a similar story in previous seasons.
But this is the non-league version of the FA Cup. Whilst we don't want to be non-league and have ambitions of returning to the wonder that is the Football League Trophy, this is still a big deal to the vast majority of clubs in the non-league pyramid.
Yeah it's badly run and yeah it causes havoc with the fixtures year on year, but please let's not turn into those fans who look down our noses at competitions beneath us. It wouldn't matter when the trophy games were played, it would result in the same amount of games and a pile-up at some point.
Besides, this season it's provided vital game time for the likes of Pearson, East, Marshall, Pittman and to a more recent extent Henderson and Nolan. On Saturday it gave Horwood a much needed 90 minutes under his belt rather than going in cold to league fixture.

None of it makes sense for the handful of clubs near the top of the Conference, but for the bulk of the non-league teams who can enter it, it's a valuable source of income. I suspect that's why it never changes format, and why replays exist. But I agree it would be hard to devise a tournament that is more disruptive as all the ties are played during the part of the season most likely to have weather-related postponements. It would be better as a pre-season or midweek competition but it will never happen. The simple answer is to deliberately lose in Round 1, if all the top sides did that (and Forest Green always seem to), then it might force changes to be made. But as long as teams like us actually make an effort to win it it's always attractive to the bulk of the entrants.

But this is the non-league version of the FA Cup.
No it isn't because we're in the FA Cup. League Cup perhaps, what was Auto Windscreen yes. A moot point I know, just saying

Is that the Cheltenham festival of promotion? Pity you haven't got a racecourse. I used to enjoy the 'We've got a better racecourse than you' banter with Donny, York, Chester etc.

In my view it is the best racecourse bar none , nothing beats the atmosphere of the festival.

The thing about the.trophy and family cup is that in.the fa cup we want to draw man u, Liverpool etc, whereas in the trophy, Havant, Chasetown and rushall olympic want to draw us. Do man u fans and.Liverpool, Chelsea and arsenal fans.sqybqr should throw.a tame.on.the early stages so they.can concentrate on champion league qualifications
