I'm not advocating the departure of Jolley & Limbrick but, bearing in mind Mr Fenty's assertion that managers are only 6 games from the sack and we're nor 8 without a win, surely there's got to be some kind of improvement shown by the end of the season?
If nothing else, Harry Davis as a holding midfielder? Really?

Not being in a relegation fight will be deemed progress by some. Even if the dreadful poor run continues, Jolley wont be sacked. It will be a case of 10 games into the next season, and if no sign of progress, he will be gone.
Id personally sack him now.

Controversial statement...but I'm with you, after the substitutions today and the line up at the beginning of the game I'd actually say I'm starting to think Jolley is pretty clueless tbh..

If we do not win any of the last 5 games and that looks possible,
It will be 13 games without a win,
I think he needs to win at least one or two to keep his job.
BUT
Who will score the goals ?

Jolley is safe and will be for a while, as the club's sole ambition is to stay in the EFL and nothing more as long as he "achieves" that then he'll be in a job long term.

It's all about context. Games right now are about as unimportant as they get. 12 months ago every match was critical. The only way we'll keep moving forward is to stick with the option of continuity.

Maybe so....but we’ve got absolutely nowhere this season and without the couple of decent runs, we would be in the shite.

You could say that about just about every team in the bottom half. If the start and end of this season was like the middle part we would have been title contenders.

We had a great December and a great February. The rest of the season has verged from disappointing to catastrophic.
Deeply worrying.

It must be evident to the owner and the manager that we will need to be more ambitious than this tedious survivalism, and that will mean investment in better players. If not, it'll be more of the same next season and nobody particularly interested in watching.
This current spell is disastrous for morale, belief and togetherness I'd say, which means that I don't agree that the games are as unimportant as they get. The people in control of GTFC will finish this season with a whole lot to prove, and whilst I like Jolley and think talk of sacking him seems a bit rash, he will need to be given the resources to sign better players but crucially, to make more of what he's got, because this season we are desperately short of quality in midfield and attacking positions and have one or two suspect defenders too, and the manager's selections, substitutions and system decisions have looked like the work of an amateur at times.
After a really good February we have seen some really pathetic performances and dreadful results, including today, and you'd be forgiven for thinking that the club has made very little if any progress since returning to the league. That must change next season, and preferably before the end of this if the club want to retain the backing and attendance of supporters.
Yet again, there is clear reason for club management to feel pretty ashamed about results.

Whilst I agree with a lot of the frustration, anger and disappointment of our results/performances, do we really need a knee-jerk reaction and go back on the manager merry go round by getting rid of MJ. If we change manager at the end of the season then we could easily just write of achieving anything next season. A new manager would be faced with inheriting a squad who he won't know and more importantly he can't get rid of if they don't fit his style of play. It's easy saying get rid of those players who still have a year to run and get someone better but whatever it costs to " pay them off " inevitably comes out of the playing staff budget. We have 7 players out of contract this summer and MJ will know who he wants to keep. IMO we need to stick with MJ for the summer, judge him over his signings and how he starts next season. If , after 6 or 7 games , he shows no sign of improvement then that is the time to start afresh with a new set-up. That will give a new manager a large part of the season and 1 transfer window to hopefully put things right.

After the last window which included the signing of Ring and a contract extension for Cardwell, I’m not sure I trust him with the next one.

Getting rid of MJ will not change a thing. Most people know exactly why the club is where it is and who”s fault it is. I didn’t go yesterday but could have gone. It’s not the money ( although that plays a small part at £21.00). It’s the fed up feeling I have when I leave the ground. As someone who has supported the club for 45 years I still feel a bit guilty about not going. But not enough to make me regret my decision. I’ll be at Nottingham away ( making a weekend of it) and a corporate at home. But for this season I think that’s it for me. I’ve missed more home games this season than ever before ( six I think). But without drastic change I can see me missing a lot more than that next year. 🤔 I’m sure that pre season I’ll get that old buzz. But I won’t keep going for long once the season gets underway without a big improvement on this seasons match day experience. I think we’re all praying for a change at the top. Because I firmly believe if it doent happen we won’t be around in 10 years time !!! UTM

100% get what you’re saying, though I’m still going but after a similar time watching Town I’ve recently developed the alarming habit of leaving early when we are behind in a game and look clueless on how to get back into it.

This has to be just about the most turgid, banal and yet at times curious seasons ever. Nothing makes sense at this club anymore, from the amaterish running of the club to the 'action' on the field. We're so out of sorts with the footballing world that even the subject of this thread, the 6 game theory can barely be applied to this shower. Our stats are exasperating.
From last year, mid_december, we had this; W W W W
Following that, from the first day of the new year onwards we had; L L L L L followed by W W W W Then to our current (winless) run.. D L L L D D L L with just 3 goals scored.
Which 6 match run would qualify as the best sample of where we are going? As we see here on the Fishy, the ones mainly including the green stats end up with 'ooh, x points off the play-offs/give Jolley a longer contract' comments while the red figures see some wanting Jolley gone by the morning. Another dire, wasted season to add to all the others with the added fun of watching a team that turn up whenever they want, a (non) chairman who becomes chairman-like only when it suits him and the only bloke who knew where the goal was packing his bags. No answers here, but it can't go on, really.

At least were just going to maintain league football status once again so that is probably the clubs main target.
I'm waiting for the 50 points and the takeover that's been talked about a few weeks back.
Until a take over type change happens then unfortunately our target will always realistic of league status survival and maybe improve on points season on season. SMART targets to suit our club as it is currently ran.
Roll on summer and change

I'm not suggesting we should get rid of MJ at the moment but this comment comes up everytime a change in manager is suggested but surely this applies to every new manager at every club? Of those currently signed up for next season and beyond clearly MJ isn't getting the best out of them or they are just not good enough and in either scenario then does it matter if someone new comes in if MJ cannot do it with them?

The club lacks ambition which does not help Jolley in his recruitment,
If no takeover is in sight may I please ask Mr Fenty if you do not want to put anymore money into the playing budget please please do not take another £200.000 out.
That could make all the difference in finding a decent striker who will score some goals for us.
If we get some success like Lincoln have done there will be much bigger crowds and then there will be a chance of the club giving some more of your loan back without it effecting the managers recruitment ,.

It's not very often I've agreed with you, but on this occasion I totally agree. We all knew these last few gmes were going to be dead rubbers. So it's the time for Jolley to experiment. It'll enable him to find out more about the players in the squad. Besides if MJ goes now, who honestly thinks (when looking at it dispassionately) that much is going to change? The words 'deckchairs', 'moving' and 'Titanic' spring to mind.

If we do not win any of the last 5 games and that looks possible,
It will be 13 games without a win,
I think he needs to win at least one or two to keep his job.
BUT
Who will score the goals ?
IF we do not win any of the last 5 games, then its squeeky bum time. We are only 13 points ahead of bottom team and 12 from the drop. So if ALL the teams below us go on a 5/6 winning game streak, then we will finish bottom. I know its not feasible in reality, but mathematically its possible

Notts and Macc have only won 5 games apiece since December, Yeovil and even Crawley (dark horses making a bid for the trapdoor) only 4 wins since November. Expecting any of them to win 4 or 5 in a row is beyond unfeasible, and while Town have 8 wins since Dec there's no doubt the current form would be a little alarming if there were still a dozen games or so left.

That could be countered by the signing of Hess, Hendrie and Embleton last summer.

I am disappointed with results and worried about the recent trends but I seem to remember in the past that managers have been hammered for not using end of season games to play youngsters and experiment with formations etc. On top of that we’ve had a glut of injuries. Its tough being a manager!

Yes, I suppose we're not used to being relatively safe with 10 or so games to play.

We could have Jesus in charge and he couldn’t do anything about years of no investment, poor training facilities, poor manager choices and a p*ss poor non chairman in charge.
Might also reinvigorate the town given all them fish he can produce 😄

The catering would be profitable though. A few loaves and fishes and a 5000 crowd all fed
The crowds Town get there would be a lot of wasted food

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. We could do with all the help we can get next season, we don't want a curse on is from Him upstairs.
