Wrong tactics for Matt Green. His work rate is more relevant to harassing defenders in their half not in ours. He was unable to link in with our midfield when we had possession and won few free kicks, throws or corners. Cook or Vernam should have been on earlier and Wright for Clifton would have caused more problems when we broke. The number of dubious free kicks also disrupted our game. Mystifying decisions sometimes. Neither team deserved 3 points.

Ask a Shrewsbury supporter what they thought about his performances for them last season and get back to me. Think you'll find they weren't exactly massive fans
You’d have an argument if we’d lost 2 or 3 nil but they didn’t look scoring all day - and neither did we. A dire game between 2 pretty poor teams. Our only game plan is to hoof the ball / long throw towards Hanson and hope he scores or we pick up the pieces, it’s percentage football at its worst. Need some creativity in midfield, and stop playing our best right back at left back so that we can shoehorn in a player to play right back purely because he has a long throw (which ultimately came to nothing)

I groaned when he brought Cook on and said ooh thats good we can watch him run around for 20 mins he had his good game of the seaon on Tuesday like when he scored 2 goals in a game last season, think he touched the ball once in the last minute, Any tiny amount of creativity left the pitch when Ogbu was subbed, We then brought on Vernam who had no time to affect the game with his long raking runs from one side of the pitch to the other (we were crap last season because we had these players not being fit or scoring goals) and a left back on so the right back could into midfield and finally the age old stick the centre half up top and lump it to him routine.. I thought we were poor 2nd half as FGR had sussed us and we had no idea how to change the way we were playing. The other worry is how many times did the ball drop in the area today and Sturday but hardly ever lands at our feet but it took just one dodgy half clearance and FGR scored, Lets hope we bounce back on Tuesday.

Well..... fking awful spectacle unless you happen to be Alan Hansen...
we clearly went with a plan to play a frustrating game, kept our shape and disicpline very well without the ball and let Forest Green pass it to death in pretty harmless areas....in possession we were turgid, within a couple of touches we had lost it by punting it blindly up the pitch....a couple of almost half chances when the ball fell in the box off Hanson but no real effort on goal by either side in the first half. Second half FGR passed it with a bit more purpose and we seemed to drop slightly deeper, still contained them very well though and before they scored a couple of more half chances for Hanson. They scored from being first to the second ball when Waterfall blocked the initial cross , Macca no chance really. Out of possession i think the players deserve credit and 9.5 out of 10 as we nullified FGR , with the ball we deserve 1 out of 10, awful to watch and add to that the ref who was so eager to blow his whistle and make it such a stop start game it was a dire watch overall.
Off to find my eye bleach.
Pretty good summary moosey. Can't disagree with much of that

A perfect summary of an atrocious game. One of those days when the first goal was probably going to secure the points. Forget & move on.
