Another name to be mixed in with the rumours, alongside Spanish striker Alhagi Touray Sisay and Montel Gibson
Ex welsh international and only 24, recently released by forest green

Quality player was suprised he was released tbh, unless he chose to leave, id say he was one of their key players.

I’ve just had a quick stalk of him and his mrs and can’t see that at all. I’m not the best user of IG though to be fair.

He's an attacking midfielder / winger. He's a quality player and I would imagine Holloway will be signing him for the no. 10 role.

Yep, i'd have George over Elliott any day. I think Eliiots injury shows he has lost that bit of pace but also very difficult to come back from an injury he had to hit the ground running. George has far more qualities than Elliott.

Wouldn't really describe Louth and North Thoresby as nice areas . Pretty much shitholes these days. Even Caistor is nicer than these areas. West of Grimsby and south of Scunthorpe is where you want to go. Anything south of Grimsby up to Skegness is just gross.

This report was when he was at Fulham, interesting that the video footage on this shows Tilley scoring for Brighton and Williams scoring for Fulham U23.

Think being unlucky refers to the fact that he had a serious injury he was coming back from. Played a few games before lockdown and FGR took the view he was too risky to resign. Looking at his twitter he seems to have put in the hard yards to show he is now super fit.

It could be that FGR didn't think he was consistant or good enough. If he signs I hope he proves them wrong.

Why was he unlucky?
Because he was a quality player for them and theyre fans say he shouldn't have been let go but due to the circumstances he had to be let go for financial reasons Here from their forum
Quoted Text
Would he have rather kept Williams and let McCoulsky go? Of course, that much is obvious. Would he rather have kept Shephard than Godwin-Malife or Bernard? I’m sure he would. I’m sure that Dale and the board would have too. But the fact is, some of those players retained were already under contract for another year. The financial landscape has changed and tough decisions had to be made. I’m sad that we won’t see Faz, George and Shep next season. Totally gutted, actually, rated all three of them. But sacrifices had to be made to ensure the club survives. Bigger picture, people."

Brigg is the centre of the known universe...
Bit more south but okay. Still nicer than Louth and North Thoresby. Maybe 25 years ago they could have been described as nice areas but still remember thinking Louth was a bit creepy and inbred even back then. Now they are just another Humberston,Holton Le Clay or Healing. Once maybe a bit posh but now nothing more than the higher end of working class. Not really places you'd expect pro footballers to settle down with their families. Sorry to people who live there but it's the honest truth. You need to go a bit further out towards Lincoln to find the middle class. Maybe some left in Waltham but even that's become more and more working class when it used to be full of business owners and the local affluent.

I would suggest players settling in the Chichester/Cromwell road area of Cleethorpes if they can afford it, just a short stroll to the beach and usually plenty of things going on in the summer.
What's there not to like, I can think of a lot worse places to live.

Depends on your idea of a nice area, if you want to live somewhere with a nice town centre, good quality housing, decent schools, lower than average crime, shops not shuttered at night, a very good selection of independent pubs and resturants then Louth fits that bill.

Standout, the daftest post that I have read in months but it made me laugh. A PhD thesis in class definition and inbreeding. Division 2 footballers making up the middle class but at least an apology to the locals utm

Good enough Wigginton and Wainman, who lived in the signhills area. Clive took we to a few home games, I still have a photo of me (aged about 11) in my town scarf and bobble hat with Clive, its currently in the Press Room at BP. Town should enlist Gary Crofts help, with new signings settling into the area. Being an ex footballer and now a estate agent, he could put something together in a brochure to sell the area.

Has the area got a secondary school that has a cricket team that wears whites... ...Louth Grammar always wore whites and we'd (Brigg) be usually happy with a losing draw if they batted first - we played a full day game against them - proper cricket. The Scunthorpe schools only got a 20:20 fixture, turned up in their normal school trousers, and were a beaten side before the first ball was bowled...sums up Scunthorpe really...

Barton upon Humber, nice quiet town, lots of new builds, 15 minutes from Hull for shopping, 30 minutes to Cleethorpes, perfect for Mr & Mrs Williams.

So we're potentially signing a lad who was in the Wales squad that made the semi-finals of a major international tournament four years ago, yet some people are taking it as an opportunity to put the boot in on the local area.
Jesus wept.

He's not. Their manager stated on a radio call that he's not longer on trial with them. His wife LITERALLY put an instagram story post asking for advice on where to live and things to do in the Grimsby area.

Just to clarify my last statement as some of you may misinterpret. I called at the Club Shop, to no avail, but there was a Steward in the car park, and he wasnt very appreciative of me being there, told me to leave and to telephone next time to see if shop is open. Think he thought i was a 65 year old burglar, i was in the vicinity so called at Shop to buy a large flag for my motorhome. It wasnt really called for, attitude gets you no-where.

Grew up in Barton. Quiet but safe. Used to be loads more pubs too, think there were about 15 when I was first going out drinking which is decent for a town with a population back then of about 9,000. Leeds and Sheff both less than an hour away too. One downside is your kids will probably go to Baysgarth. Don't know what it's like nowadays but it was a bit of joke when I was there.

I agree with you about Baysgarth. When I was unemployed quite a long time ago, I was sent there to work with the IT teacher, and was expected to assist in classes with her. I could have been there longer but I told the Job Centre that if I didn't leave now I would end up in court for assault! The kids were so ignorant and abusive, even assaulting teachers, refused to leave the classroom when told to by the teacher, that is until I got right in his face and gave him my best squaddie stare! It really opened my eyes to see how those kids behaved. A few the pubs are closed down now, not just because of the virus. Blue Bell has been turned into a kind of apartment block, with several houses built behind it in the old car park. The Coach and Horses has gone too, not been opened for a couple of years now. One of my favourite pubs from my teenage years, the White Lion in the Marketplace has been closed for donkeys years. What the town has lost in pubs, it has gained in restaurants, don't know the exact number, but it has to be pretty close to the number of pubs there used to be, I believe a Thai Restaurant was the last one to be added to the town eateries.

Whilst I agree with attitude getting you nowhere, posting it on this thread was confusing. Particularly as there is a thread further down entitled “club shop”

This would be the same Baysgarth that I captained the Radio Humberside top school quiz team to the first two years win of a three year streak that was ended when Radio Humberside asked us not to enter to give the other local schools a chance. Not bad for a school that was looked down on.

The problem Dicko is this bloody virus some people are scared to death of getting close to a stranger. On many occasions I have been asked to stand back while the shop assistant scans my basket not thinking they come into contact with scores of people during their work day.

What year(s) was this, that you were there? IT was an absolute farce when I was there (95-00). Class of 30 with only ever enough PCs for 10 people so it was 2 to a computer with everyone else on a table in the middle. This was back when your mouse had a ball inside it and pretty much every ball had been stolen so you had to stick your finger in and use the rollers to navigate around. They installed Encarta as well on all the computers so it was speakers on full blast and animals noises and the opening bars to Changes by David Bowie or some Grandmaster Flash song every 5 seconds. Absolute bedlam. Think I scraped an E in IT. There's never been a White Lion in the marketplace though...unless The George was briefly called that or it was before my time. There's a White Swan and a Red Lion but neither are in the marketplace. Coach and Horses has been bought by a local who is converting the building into flats too. Apparently that Thai you mention is absolutely lovely. Tiny inside, apparently they can only seat a few parties at one time and the menu is really small but I think it's actually a Thai person doing the cooking.

I totally disagree about Louth, I live in Louth and have done for over 3 years, it’s a great place to live, it has its problems (as all town and cities do) We’ve had to use the hospital several times and had a brilliant service, the schooling is very good too, I feel you’re being very harsh on Louth.

I'm sure it's fine if you're a certain kind of person (About 80 years old or a bit carny/hippie like most of the young families that move there or grew up there) and don't mind all the local yokels. Just avoid Hubbard's Hills at night where the younger ones drink cheap wine, take drugs and sleep with their cousins. I'd advise the future Mrs Williams to avoid Louth as she might be too grossed out.

I’m 50 years old and have a young family, my kids, wife and me love it at Louth, My lad has a job in Louth (at a local school) Louth has great leisure facilities, A cinema, Nice eateries and an outdoor market, the shops aren’t as varied as Grimsby but it has all one would need.
There are a lot of people living in Louth who are quite wealthy (especially near the church area) so why would they choose to live in Louth if it’s as bad as you state?
Like I said previously Louth does have its problems but nowhere near like what you suggest, I’ve actually witnessed problems (usually kids speeding in cars around the high street area) but its quite rare, I think Louth has a lot to offer for most individuals or families.

Had some great night outs in Louth in the 60's loads of pubs in those days. It had a thriving shove ha'penny league in most of the pubs. Also Hubbard's hills was nice to have a picnic at.

It’s not the kids speeding that’d bother me about living in Louth... it’s the tractors trundling that’d drive me mad!

@SON OF COD - I am 74 years old and apart from 14 years in the British Army have live in Barton all my life. I can assure you 1000% that there WAS a White Lion in Barton, as I stated in my post, it was my favourite pub back in the mid 60's. Feel free to apologise when ever you like. https://www.closedpubs.co.uk/lincolnshire/bartononhumber_whitelion.html

He could well be the best signing of the summer.
Lovely balance and ability. Proper footballer, if we can keep him fit and injury free he’ll be a pleasure to watch.
As if they’ve took Whitehouse instead of keeping him.

Ollie's definitely stamping his mark on the team now. Hope it all comes together on the pitch like it's doing in the gaffer's head.

The George has always been the George, and the White lion was in the centre of the Market Place, the George was, and still is on the corner of George Street and Marketplace. Did you not see in my link that the White Lion was made a pub in 1558!

I remember FGR signing Williams a couple of years ago and thinking what an unbelievable signing it was, whilst also lamenting the amount of money they must have thrown at him to pull it off. For someone aged 24 in League Two, his pedigree is unreal - he's played 20 odd games in the Championship for Fulham, has 7 international caps for probably the best Wales side in many generations and was in the squad for a team which reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016 (that's two rounds further than England, by the way).
That said, for whatever reason (injuries, perhaps) he hasn't really pushed on at Forest Green. Still, it's a risk but if the talent is there no reason he couldn't go on to be a fantastic signing. In the current climate, it looks a great piece of work by the club.

What, hope nobody tells her about Louth or Tealby or North Thoresby or The Wolds or Barnoldby le Beck etc etc etc? Easy to do the place down, but there are some bloody nice areas and villages within easy commuting distance
Exactly this. League 2 players have not got the choice of Broadstairs or Henley on Thames have they? There are very few towns in England with a league team and we are one of the lucky ones. There are even less towns with a club in league 2. There are even less towns that want a particular player so they are not spoilt for choice are they? How many towns with league 2 football would any player say wow, I want to live there? Then we have the teams with very low fan bases, so we can discount them. Then there are the teams who play in the middle of nowhere so we can discount them. Then there are the teams with little or no history so we can discount them. That really leaves just the Mariners so welcome aboard! We know that Holloway will accentuate the positives of the club and people of this area and the lovely places to live and good on him for that.

Not many league teams have a beautiful beach up the road.
The best fish in the country and many beautiful villages close by.
Plus the best fans who support their team in numbers wherever they are playing.
Welcome Mr and Mrs Williams.

All correct, and the ZZ Top lookalike is actually a friend of mine and known locally as 'John the Blacksmith', for obvious reasons. Another person of renown was the author, Ted Lewis. Another old friend of mine, we used to play together in the park as kids, kicking a tennis ball around for hours on end was Frank Barton. Ken H. Harrison was the guy who did cartoons for the Beano, and another famous name was Isaac Pitman, inventor of the Pitman Shorthand writing.

One of his Instagram pictures shows the results of some serious hard work during the lockdown, weight lost and muscle gained. Hopefully we can see the best of him.

Gloucester is a lovely part of the country to live. Even Tony Jacklin lived there. High house prices reflect the high demand and desirability of the Cotswolds.
Another main attraction of moving to Lincolnshire is that you get more for your money when it comes to buying a house (or renting).%%/
