I seem to recall that we had turned down £150k from (Man City ?) then Norwich came in with a similar offer which went to Tribunal & one way or another Norwich  got him for £100k. Doh!

Then if memory serves me right they sold him to Rangers for a million about 12 months later in the days before sell on clauses.

Don't care how short a footballers career is £100,000 a week is obscene, never mind those on 3 x as much. When you consider people like surgeon's etc only get that per year for saving lives!!
Those who believe otherwise clearly think £80 to watch 90 mins football at say Chelski is acceptable.
Before we know it our national game will only be for the well off middle classes like the USA with their style of American football.
Nobody will ever persuade me that's fair.

Whilst I largely agree with your sentiment, the problem here is not really football but rather capitalism itself. We live in a society driven by market forces, not the value of a person’s contribution to society.

For that reason, top level sportsmen, TV ‘personalities’, hedge fund managers and so on and so on earn many times that of nurses, police officers, soldiers etc. Unless you fix the flaws of capitalism (and I haven’t a clue how you go about doing that) this kind of financial injustice isn’t going away.
