An exhaustive summary with many interesting observations.  I did not know that we had played more league teams (120) than any other team.

I'd forgotten that 7-2 win - amazing that side managed that.

and a thumping win at Histon the next game (I can't remember if it was 5 or 6) We could score goals in those days

Didn't Rob Eagle score the goal of the season at that game from near the half way line.

I remember him getting the award at the player of the year evening and he was drunk.

When he scored or when he got the award?
Or both?

One of my most vivid memories of playing Mansfield at home, apart from the big win was being asked at the bottom of Isaac's Hill as I walked to the match, if the man was on the right way to the ground.

He was a Mansfield supporter with the scarf and hat and a real decent guy and we chatted football etc all the way up Grimsby Road, until I left him to go into the supermarket near Blundell Park. We wished each other well.

The game kicked off and after the first controversial piece of action, the 'who are you's' started from the Upper Findus Stand where I was sat and continued by the large amount of Mansfield supporters in the Osmond, led by a real hooligan type, with a bald head and no shirt.

It was the guy I walked up with.
