Is there any wonder we are run off the field

Just been looking at the League table.

Early season after we called off three matches because of the C-word, we were three matches behind the majority of other teams. Looking at the table today we have now played the most matches alongside Port Vale on 23 games, and we have played 3 games more than 4 teams and 4 more than Exeter. So that means since we started back after our 2 week soiree, we have played 6 or 7 games more than several other teams in our league.

We need a few weeks off just to give everyone a rest

We could definitely do with some postponements to allow Hurst to get some players in the building and do some work on the training ground.

We do go to considerable lengths not to play more than the bare minimum in the cups though.

I wanted today’s game off as I knew it was going to be tough. It’s strange that they are notorious for having a dodgy pitch but it was still on. There was snow on it yesterday for Christ’s sake yet it was sorted. Other games in our league were off last night because of frozen pitches.  It seems the lure of the easy three points from us is an incentive to play at all costs.

Snow left on the pitch can prevent it getting frozen (if it’s not already frozen). I remember this happening in 1984-5 when we played Norwich in the Milk Cup. The grounds men said he wanted to leave the snow cover then loads of volunteers went in the day of the match to clear it.

I think getting rid of your assistant manager, who the players respected, didn’t help in any way

Trying to control the playing side and the board room (where all your ‘money’ is invested) didn’t help what happened. Fenty and his new best mate have so much to answer for
