If their idea of building a new ground et al on the Docks, it won't JUST be a state of the art ground, but probably leisure facilities and more likely retail too.

Never depend on a single income, make an investment to create a second source.

As a certain someone said, "They didn't come to build houses". Somebody was mad that their investment might be used on something that wouldn't make money for him by the new owners and bailed. It's the same thing Fenty was trying to do though but with commercial instead of political ambitions so dunno what his problem was. Maybe just trying to save face after being told that the new owners wanted Hurst in charge and decided to resign and say it was for other reasons. They were already holding meetings with Hurst before that.

They already knew these risks when they began negotiations, that wasn't even really a huge sticking point in a long term project. The main issue was how they would pay off Fenty rather than what position we were in at the time, this isn't some overnight buy and spruce up then sell on type deal that only involved a football club. It's a long term commercial investment in the area itself that is ongoing and involves the commercial sector and local council. There are ongoing restoration and improvement efforts happening right now, investments in new housing and commercial projects. That's all part of how they plan to make a return on an investment.

Fenty knew all of this and wanted to make sure he's getting his piece of the pie.
