A thread to post and discuss Deadline Day transfers before the window closes at 11pm on Monday February 1.

It'll be interesting to see what happens.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

I'm hoping Peterborough sell Dembélé and we cash in.

What’ll happen?? Well Sky Sports will spend all day on overkill and milk it for everything, despite very little happening. They’ll have their ‘sources’ proclaiming to be in the know and that prat Jim White will carry on with the charade it has become.

That image gives me hot sweats even to this day thinking of what could have been   I know we got promoted eventually but I nearly gave up on football forever that day, I've never felt so low after a game....it was only the determination of the town fans with OP and certain players committing to the cause that put my faith back in the game

Not sending the Bristol keeper off for the deliberate hand ball was the worst decision I have seen. It basically cost us another year in the Conference.

Arsenal would have got far better value from signing their cleaner’s husband than Ozil.  And save themselves about £100 Million.

If we take it that LJL is signing I would still want a keeper, centre back, centre midfield and a good wide player who has pace, can beat a man and score the odd goal.

Damning assessment of the players Holloway brought in that so many still required which will probably leave us with an enormous squad until Hurst carries out his cull. Still wondering why I put so much faith in Holloway and lockdown is giving me too much time to dwell on being completely taken not only when he joined but when he assured us he would correct his errors in the summer with some quality signings in January. Please tell me there really is a Santa Claus!!!

Tomorrow I’d like to see...

- A good 3/4 shipped out.
- 1 x keeper
- 1 x CB
- 1 x mid field ball winner
- 2 x Strikers
- A new pitch

I’d expect in reality no more then 2 of the above.

Sounds very much like Coke and LJL are done deals. A couple more would be a bonus.

The following season though was something special to be part of, the sense of injustice uniting the support, o.p, Bogle and Amond, some great themed away days, magnificent travelling support, Disleys tears, brilliant Wembley day out.

Pity it was all wasted the following season with the ridiculous squad culling, price hikes, late season ticket sales etc etc

Would like to see;

1 x CB
1 x CM someone who is solid defensively and has a cool head to put a foot in it.
1 x Wide player
1 x ST which will be Lenny.

Whether we manage to get that or not I’m not sure.

Coke is a free agent so Hurst has no rush to make his mind up on that one is suppose. But at the end of the day a 6 month deal for him on top of the above additions wouldn’t do any harm, worth a gamble to ensure we are only the 22nd worst in the league.

Well, essential travel, social distancing..that’s one positive aspect that Covid might brings sky Sports might begin to realise no-one cares or buys into their rubbish charade anymore..

LJL, plus one more (not including whatever is happening with Coke)

Hope the “one more” is an experienced fast CB or a championship level or better keeper who needs games for some reason

Sorry everyone, can’t see much more than that realistically

We've brought in 5 already. Can't see another 5 coming in. 2 or 3 at most including LJL and possibly Coke.

There will be free agents around after tomorrow that can be picked up anytime going forward.

Keeper. Keeper. Keeper.

Not 3 keepers but one who will command his area, boss his defence and take charge back there.

If Hurst has not spotted by now we need a new keeper what can you say?

Macca has been a fantastic servant but he cannot keep his place through sentiment.

The problem we have in the idea of getting another keeper is that probably 50% of all teams in the 4 leagues will be also looking for back up keepers, so I'm guessing if any one of the available keepers had an option of at least 2 teams, one of which is Town in its lowly position, unless we offered him a guaranteed start for the rest of the season, I can't see anyone choosing to come here.

Well, if Hurst can sign a future England goalkeeper from the likes of Manchester United on loan for Grimsby and then Shrewsbury Town, anything is possible.

Let’s face it, we are not going to sign an entire new squad in January - or players of the quality of Matete and Payne... but if he can sign players with drive and determination (like the shop etc) then the whole team is a far stronger unit

Could be. Hurst has said that he prefers a smaller squad.

However, I can’t see any other clubs wanting to sign our castoffs so it would most likely be contract terminations.

Vernam was also one of these players in Lloyd Griffiths article on COD Almighty who wasn't happy at his contract offer, so that could have had a sway in it.

I think you are right, and with the lower depths of Non-League suspended, I can't see many coming in for the scraps.

It also comes down to players who are surplus to requirements, I would probably only say Alhagi Touray Sisay comes into that? On a 1 year deal, doesn't feature at all.

I wonder if the signing of Payne and LJL may see Green out the door? I have always thought as well that we are never too far out of seeing Scannell go. Glimpses of ability but often injured or on the bench.

Think Sisay is on peanuts so will probably sit out his contract in the reserves, sure I recall talk of Scannell, Green, Hewitt and Gibson all having meetings with Hurst in the last week. Scannell and Gibson seem to be some players Hurst thinks we over committed on and that they have not proven themselves. I'd be kinda surprised if all of these four were still with us by the summer and not either paid up or shipped off elsewhere. The latter probably depends on how likely it is all the non league stuff gets shut down. Same person told me that Green had told Hurst and others he was planning to see out his contract with us and then retire to do other things. Hurst apparently had a go at him after the Scunthorpe game and said if he doesn't want to be in football anymore then he should just tell him he wants to go.

I've said this for a long time about green he's in the game for himself no the club, runs around making himself look busy when its pointless running around he's doing. Be glad to see the back of him, stole a wage for far to long now.

Huddersfield Town are reportedly plotting a late swoop for Ipswich Town striker Kayden Jackson.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

You're probably right on Sisay, am I right in thinking he had a loan at Cleethorpes earlier in the year so I can't imagine he would have many suitors interested even if he was made available?

Completely forgot about Gibson, yeah I remember seeing Hurst's comments about over committing but was unsure as to who he was speaking of. I believe Gibson has another year left on his contract but yeah I think he made too much of a step up, he's not a bad player but he would probably do well in National League North / South.

Hewitt is a disappointing one, he can be a very good player but like a lot of this time can be terrible when off form.

Green, well no need to explain

He has played 14 games according to Soccerbase, scoring twice. He hasn't played since the 16th Jan.

Obviously Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has just returned as manager, so quite possibly that could have a sway on things.

Re: Gibson, if only he had a year more on his contract - its 2 and half more years! Wonder if he will have learnt the offside law by the end of that!

He is definitely one who Hurst was referring to. Thought Jackson might have been as well - you'd have thought it would've been a 12 month deal with the cl0ub having an option for another 12 if he impressed. Although he is a noticeable improvement on green tbf

So it might be Bunney, Adams and Eastwood joining today. Maybe Coke too. With LJL and the lads signed earlier, that's 10 new faces. Blimey.

I also think that the incoming players know they are here for a relegation scrap.

This was never on the cards when many of the previous signings were made. They were probably told Hollow Words was building something special and the slide to the bottom would be a major shock to most of them, many of whom look like fish out of water.

The new crop will be under no illusions about how tough it is going to be and what Hurst will be expecting of them.

Wonder what the fee was. Unlike us, other clubs tend not to give away good players for nothing due to pea brained administrative member ups.

Can not understand why people want him back...

He played 62 times (inc Loan spell) and scored 10 goals, but if you take the 4 goals in the 7 games he played after return from loan at Chorley his stats are....

Played 55 scored 6 goals.

I think a lot just remember the last 7 games and that 'wonder' goal. not done much at Burton and can not see him getting a regular start at Bradford.

That deal was done at the weekend so plenty of time for them to get a press release ready to go for this morning. Probably just getting articles ready and interview videos edited at this point. People have been arriving at the club all day so it's not like they've been talking things up and we're still waiting on phone calls or for somebody to drive here. At least not for the ones the paper have put forward.

Being greedy, would have liked another centre back, but if we need one to come in later, there is always a free agent of two looking for a club.

Another curious example of a player who did ok for us as a promotion chasing Conference side whose career swiftly took a massive tumble down the non-league steps upon leaving us.

28 now, should be in his prime. Always thought he'd always be good enough for the Conference but recently playing in the Northern Premier. Players taking what they can get these days. Wonder what his day job is.

He’s 28!? If you’d have told me he was under 35 I’d have been surprised. Christ, time runs slowly when you’re absolute dogshít.

A 6'3" left back/ wingback then Holloway told him he didn't fit into his style of play or systems!  He was with Benfica for his apprenticeship but Holloway knew better.

Yeah just watched it, Hurst looked delighted with how things have gone for us in the window and he's now looking into trimming the squad.

Unfortunate wording by the Daily Heil makes it look like Mellis committed the (alleged) and offence to help Sarfend avoid relegation. 😆

“Southend United have signed a player currently on bail after being charged with affray, assault and causing grievous bodily harm to help their bid to stay in the Football League.”

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Seems quite vague. Last we knew Hereford were releasing him from his contract so he could sign for us? Wonder what they mean by registration issues?

He's having second thoughts after seeing the size of the brown envelope he's been offered to shut his gob about Covid clauses and LJL....

There's a couple of crackers in the Daily Fail article:

Nile Ranger was found guilty of online fraud but Southend sacked him because of "time keeping issues.."

And

A picture of Mellis "tackling" Didier Drogba in his Chelsea days, when it's patently clear Mellis is nowhere near the ball, will never get near the ball and Drogba is running rings round him.

LJL has problems with his contract documentation and now Giles coke has a problem with his registration. Looks like their are big administration c.ck ups at Hereford.

There could be an opening for Fenty and Day there
