Interesting article in the Sunday Mirror about Chesterfield. They have received £285,000 from the rescue package, they have furloughed 4 players that the manager doesn't rate, and they have signed 12 new players.

So the taxpayer is paying 80% of the wages of the players that the manager doesn't want and won't pick but the rest of the players get their wages paid in full by the club.

Apparently the league think that this is ok, no rules have been broken, and the government are happy with this arrangement.

The whole thing stinks!

It's 80% up to £2500 per month remember.

Also the rescue package for non-league is a loan, isn't it? Or have I mis-read/understood that somewhere along the line?

OK  then, howabout "government  money" then, does that suit?

Actually you were right first time. Despite what Roast 'Em Bobby might say and his link to that ridiculous site there is no such thing as government money, it all comes from taxes in one form or another. The Coates family at the top of Bet 365 might have a wry smile at the idea of no taxpayers' money having paid over half a billion in Income Tax last year.

Indeed, that is why there is a long thread regarding the possible suspension of The National League.

Try to educate people, but as seems to be the case nowadays, experts are rubbished and internet idiots believed.

The point is that the government print money every day, and they equally destroy money paid in taxes every day. There is no, pool of taxpayers money. That is just a phrase used by politicians to get people riled up, when it suits them.

So when Doris splashed £21 million quid on an advisor to help buy PPE, whose money was it and where did they get it?
