All hypothetical I know but if you could have brought a player back in the January window that played here under Hurst....
who would you have brought back to strengthen the squad when they were at their best playing for us. Still playing or not, any position, money no object?

I'll start off with the obvious one, Podge a natural goalscorer and grafter that would have scored some much needed goals to help our cause IMO.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

At this moment in time I’d say Craig Disley

A great leader and motivator on the pitch right in the heart of the engine room

Would get us playing forwards more. Would get us creating more chances to score. Wouldn’t be fearful of getting ahead of the strikers arriving in the box either.

We just don’t have a player that links play from defence to attack and Diz was that man, just like Groves, Bolland, Dobbin and any other number of super midfield players we’ve had over the years.

Amond.

Couldn't be anyone else, could it?

We can't score goals. Amond scores goals. If he had been given LJL's 2 big chances in the last 2 games, we'd now be 2 points behind Barrow.

Amond is an obvious one, but can he do it in league football? 😂

For me it would be Hearn. Strong, fast goal scorer or diz because we’re absolutely crying out for a leader out there.

The problem is, they are the only 2 chances we have created other than usual cross and hope.

So Disley or Nolan for me

A lucid, informed, even handed and well thought out argument. I agree.

I would bring most of them back as they were better than the current crop. I still can't believe we didn't build on that squad

To be honest out of our winning team from Wembley which player would you not want.

We have gone backwards since returning to the league.

Hurst is going nowhere so let's hope he can get another solid team together again.

This time he will have a good board behind him.

Toto. Tait. Hearn. Omar. Lots to choose from. I'd go with Pearson. May not HAVE been the best or most talented but was total(ly) committed to the club.

Hoban?

I know it's basically a pub league but even he's gone on to be a prolific scorer in the League of Ireland since departing. 63 goals in 117 appearances for Dundalk after re-joining them in 2018.

I'll go for that fella who scored the most Football League goals in a season for us since Clive Mendonca (and he only played 27 games of it).
