I see voting has started for the Mansfield Town "Player of the Year"

Anyone heard when our voting starts

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Always believed if you get relegated you shouldn’t have one but agree with Hagrid on Hewitt

How many games has Hewitt played at centre back? If he plays to the end of the season there will it even be a third? He was, unfortunately, pretty dreadful in his other appearances.

Even so, our season has been so tragically awful in terms of quality that yes, he is the strongest contender.

Hewitt - i'll be drunk off if if he isn't given the award. Deserves it.
The best player even before switching position. Had the odd bad game at right back which the fishy boo boys loved to jump on but on the whole played very well.
Never worked out at Ipswich but apparently they thought very highly of him -
Can play afew positions - would be a big statement if they can get him to resign.
Maybe offering him a long contract (whatever that is) would be enough

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

Should be cancelled. If not cancelled then Hewitt. Really hope he’s kept on next season as a CB but assume he will get a league 2 club. Would be tempted to offer him a longer deal. Oh how we have fallen

Yeah agree with that, he wasn't great until he switched to CB.

Matete should be in with a shout, if we're including loan players.

He's also been a core member of two squads relegated out of the league now (assuming we are down), so you have to wonder how many league suitors he's likely to get, despite his recent short term form at centre back.

Totally agree........however....I am definately in the any club that finishes bottom of the entire league and is relegated,  blooding nearly 50 players in the process shouldn't have any player of the year awards camp.

That would be a waste as they are out of contract anyway. Needs to go to a player we want to get rid of but who is contracted for next season. Montez Gibson? Danny Rose?

Hewitt, Coke.. Clifton probably sneaking somewhere around in there for his endeavour.

Can't wait until next season with a pretty much brand new squad & the majority of these current players only ever get another mention in some sort obscure Grimsby players quiz in about 10 years.

For me I think it should go to Giles Coke. Having trained with Town for a month 'on trial', to then have a transfer door slammed in his face through no fault of his own, then at cost to himself fought the system to have his contract with Hereford annulled, and finally when he did sign he was the steadying influence in midfield that Hurst built on.

Then during the 'tete a tete' vs Tranmere he was the first person to get in Paynes face to stop him doing anything more.

When Towns relegation was confirmed he was the only one in that team to show any emotion, and going round the younger players to talk to them.

As good as he was on the field of play, Coke should win player of the year for his professionalism and how he fought for everything, literally
