I am intrigued by the empty slot next to the number 9 slot in Squad numbers.   Are we waiting for someone to be released from a contract, could it be a foreign player waiting for a Governing Body Endorsement (GBE),  I'm hoping that the person who gets this shirt will be of a fairly high quality, AND can score a few goals too.  The wait goes on.............

I don't think Hurst will sign players from all over the world like his predecessor told us he would do.

We are maybe being a bit ambitious and getting turned down because of that or waiting to see what becomes surplus to requirements elsewhere.

I do wonder if Podge will be here by the end of August...

Not sure I would want Podge back. Really at the end of his career now, when I look at our squad it cries out for pace upfront and more creativity. You will never defend your way out of this division you need to many points utm

I know Podge is under contract but that doesn't mean anything. I just have a hunch that he might end up here as he's been an important source of information about a couple of our signings, Hurst has made a point of saying good words about him and obviously likes his character.

Yes, he may have lost a yard of pace but he knows where the net is and may be seen as someone who can bring someone like Adlard along.

It sounds like a nice scenario but won’t happen. They’ll be plenty of EFL offers if he wanted away from Newport.
