Was a bit bored and decided to do a bit of amateur scouting (I.e a bit of looking on the internet) to see what available strikers there might be. Set myself some limitations which are as follows: - Out of contract in this summer
- Under the age of 30
- Listed as a centre forward
- No one that played outside the UK, unless their parent club is UK based
- Realistic. So even though Diego Costa is available he won't be on the list
And these were the results. Yannick Toure: 20 years old just been released by the Newcastle U23's team. last 3 seasons spent playing in the Premier League 2 (reserve league?) where in 18/19 he made 11 appearances and got 3 goals, 19/20 made 13 appearances and got 3 goals and 3 assists and last season made 12 appearances and got 3 goals and 1 assist. Kazaiah Sterling: 22 years old just been released by Tottenham U23's. Last season spread his game time between the Premier league 2, Southend and Morton getting 22 games in total and scoring 2 which were both in the Premier League 2. Mikael Ndjoli 22. Released by Barrow after only making 2 appearances last season. His 18/19 and 19/20 seasons were spent at Kilmarnock and Gillingham, with 1 solo appearance at motherwell. in those 2 seasons he played 51 times and scored 8 goals. Jermone Sinclair 24. Released by Watford. Had loan spells at Sunderland, Oxford, VVV Venlo and CSKA Sofia 18/19 were spent at Sunderland and Oxford where he managed 29 appearances and got 5 goals and 3 assists in league 1. 19/20 were at VVV where he managed 0 goals and 1 assist in 23 games and last season at CSKA Sofia where he managed to get 3 goals in 27 appearances. Danny Whitehall 25. Released by Kilmarnock. kocked around a few minor teams before scoring 13 in 36 for Maidenhead which got him his move to Kilmarnock. Scored 2 goals in 16 last season. Has some experience in the National League with Maidenhead. Guy Melamed 28. Released by St Johnston. Believe there were rumours we were signing him possibly back in January but he said he wasn't interested? got 5 goals and 3 assists in 14 appearances last season. 18/19 and 19/20 were spent in the Israeli league where he got 7 goals and 2 assists in 23 and 3 goals in 23 respectively. Nicky Ajose 29. Released by Exeter. Only managed 4 appearances and no goals last season. got 2 goals and 1 assist in 13 appearances the season before and 2 goals and 3 assists in 10 games the season before that for Mansfield. Has spent most of his time in league 1 and league 2 without being overly prolific barring one season where he scored 24 goals in 38 games for Swindon in league 1 in the 15/16 season. Of all of them Danny Whitehall has at least played at this level in the last few years and got some goals. Nicky Ajose feels like possibly the highest profile player in the list but hasn't scored many in the last few seasons.

Wouldn't mind seeing a few. I remember Jerome Sinclair being highly thought of at Liverpool, then he got moved onto Watford and I never heard of him since.

OK bored of writing actually have another 4 players all with equally fairly underwhelming statistics. If people are interested I'll post them as well but what I've taken away from this is the pool isn't as vast and wide and you think it would be.
Fair play to you, excellent research. Post some more, I would be interested.

I've updated the list to include the rest of my findings. there was one more but could actually find little data in him and also not played at a very high level so decided not to include him. Thank you for the compliment but it isnt really much more than a bit of Internet scouring. I imagine Hursty's resources are a little bit better or would at least hope so!

I mentioned Nicky Ajose in a previous thread and wondered if he could be the answer.
Same would go for Kieran agard, Jerome Sinclair and possibly Lee Novak. But, I feel all may be out of our reach

Lee Novak has retired....wouldn't say no to Ajose though.

I saw Glen Taylor for Spennymoor on Saturday. Real presence up front, scored a penalty and hit a free kick from 40 yards just wide. 31 and probably settled in the north east with a well paid day job because he's scored over 60 goals in 100 games at that level for Spennymoor.
There are a few good players at that level who are simply out of reach because they have a well paid job in civvy street.

Some of the goal records here make Matt Green look not so bad.

It amazes me how some players who consistently score no more than 3 in a season can even call themselves strikers

| Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong Update: I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly |

But they’re not though are they. The actual games are the minority of their working time.

Fits the bill for me, good age as well with potential to become a saleable asset. Been on trial at Donny recently.

This lot just shows how hard it is to find a striker worth the name.
|
| In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD |

Solihull Moors have signed striker Andy Dallas from Cambridge United. Spent half of last season on loan at Weymouth and scored near enough 1 goal every 2 games.

Paid a fee apparently which surprised me. Maybe they plan to flog someone? Don’t know much about their squad to be fair, but don’t recall them selling players recently, which unless they are being massively bankrolled I’d expect them to have to do. Like housing chains, this kind of thing would illustrate the kind of dominoes that have to topple for deals to be done… This could well be the kind of situation Hurst is stuck in…waiting for someone to become available…

Manchester City are among the clubs chasing Britain's tallest outfield player, 6ft 9in Solihull Moors striker Kyle Hudlin, 21. Middlesbrough and Cardiff City are also watching the Englishman.

I've ticked your box. 6ft 3ins and can get stuck in - that's what we need at the moment. 6months deal to see how it goes wont break the bank.

Not for me. Taylor & LJL are injured, but that sort of player - Big, annoying, and both will contribute towards goals, without scoring too many them selves IMO. We need a poacher type player, someone who is busy, and will score goals despite having a quiet game - Amond 5 years ago

He wouldn’t leave Spennymoor unfortunately, he’s earns upward of £900 a week at Spennymoor as well as being a teacher as his main job. He’s one of the best finishers in Non-League football in my opinion too, absolutely superb.

And I suppose this is the thing a lot of people don't understand when looking for targets at that level. I was sat next to a scout and as he put the ball down 40 yards out, he said "I'm telling you now this will go close" and it was close enough to get a "ooooh" from just about everyone in the ground. Realistically he's got another 4 seasons in him. To match his combined salary a club will probably have to pay upwards of £1700 a week. Then you have to consider that 4 years away from teaching would probably set him back in his career outside the game. He's far better than that level but he would be stupid to leave.
