Charles Vernam played for Derby youth team 2013 to 2015 and pro terms 2015 to 2018. So they could have known  each other 4 years longer then Hewitt and Vernam. What Clough has to realize is Hewitt played excellent for us last season has played for 2 teams that have been relegated out of League 2.

It’s one thing for a manager to say he didn’t have a good game, fair comment, an honest assessment. But for him to mention possible friendships and insinuate that he’s let Vernam have a goal basically is an insult to a professional. I’d be banging on his door Monday morning seeking an explanation. It’s interesting too that Clough speaks of relationships in football, I mean it’s not like he’s made a career out of having one of British footballs most successful and popular managers as a father or anything is it?
