Some attendance stats...
The first time Fenty took us down into Non-League in the first season (2010-11) were as follows (sorted high to low)...
5,037 (1st home match- 4,409 home fans & 628 York City fans) 4,311 (Last home match) 3,822 3,654 3,405 3,382 3,246 3,225 3,182 3,142 3,101 3,099 (MEDIAN) 3,002 2,925 2,894 2,642 2,532 2,517 2,450 2,402 2,401 2,389 2,291 3,089 AVERAGE
This time with new owners after Fenty took us down again...
5,034 (4,958 Town / 76 Weymouth) 5,030 (4,973 Town / 57 Barnet)
And you can add a high 6,000s/low 7,000s tonight.
I was sceptical about fans staying away under the previous owners. but the early signs are that there were fans either boycotting completely or just attending the occasional game who are now attending every game.

Even after this game, if only the 3000 ST holders (I think there is 3000!) turn up and no one else, the average for this season would be 3300.
But it's not hard to see that now the penny-pinching tyrant has gone people have started to come back.

If you use a conservative estimate that the average away attendance is 100 then without pay on the gate home fans, we will now average at least 3,400.

Out of interest what where the attendances for all the seasons we was down in non league? we they consistent, lower or higher? i think the first time we went down the attendances would naturally be low even more so with the dire football on display. This time there is a buzz, last time there was anger.

They must have been low when we first dropped down, I remember a game near the end of the season where you could just make a donation to get in the ground to try and drum up interest soon after Shorty and Shouty took charge. I paid a fiver. I think it may have been against Altrincham (but dont quote me on that) and it was an utterly turgid game.

Some of those attendances really are desperately low. Didn't realise they had got quite that bad.
Their almost on a par with Scunthorpe league crowds!

Factoring in sales for tonight’s game (regardless of whether it goes ahead), our average attendance this season is well over double Scunny’s, despite non-existent away followings in the first two games.

Would have to compare all seasons for attendances to notice any pattern related to troubles with previous owners actions. The one pattern that always remains consistent is that attendances climb rapidly after we win a couple of games in a row and drop like a rock straight after a home loss. I'd be interested in looking at later seasons where we had more success being in the top half/playoffs and so on as I'm sure they were more well attended than seasons we finished mid table in the conference and never really looked threatening. First and last games are always well attended no matter how the season went, I guess as people can run on the pitch and get away with it on the last game of the season at home. Never quite understood running on the pitch to celebrate finishing mid table but there you go. Speaking of which they posted on the club website asking people to stop running on the pitch as they are heading for a sell out crowd tonight since in the last couple of games, particularly at Torquay people kept doing it along with standing on the hoardings, shaking the goal posts etc. The same people are probably the ones who complain we get picked on as fans and we are actually well behaved.

Please don’t mention the C word unless you quickly pass by the rainfall issue today and praise the jab roll out as apparently they’ve done a good job at that

Bumped into an old mate in the fan zone. He told me that a very old friend who I use to go to nearly all the away games with has bought a season ticket for the first time in 40 years!
I think it is down to the massive improvements off and on the pitch, and the match day experience now compared to previous seasons rather than just a change of owner.
Long may it continue
