JJ Hooper scores 4 goals for South Shields in a 4-2 home win over Nantwich Town (Northern Premier League) yesterday. Earning rave revues by all accounts.

Good luck to the lad, couldn't fault his attitude but probably found his level now.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

I'm sure we have a thread for ex players. Really not sure why this needed its own thread.

There's several ex players who suddenly find out where the net is after leaving Town.

Then there's the Amonds and Bogles who didn't exactly tear trees up after leaving.

Strikers are strange creatures - look at the Connell wonder season which didn't repeat itself !

McAtee on 11 goals already, even with suspension and injury breaks !

Will Abrahams click now he has one under the belt?

Dropping three divisions in to part time football may have something to do with that.

Lazy and aside from a game that didn’t matter, never really did anything. Essentially playing fancy Sunday league and finds his ability to score, hardly surprising…

Hooper is playing for the team with the biggest budget against the likes of Basford, Mickleover, Gainsborough, Grantham, Matlock.

Amond went on a crazy run of scoring in every FA Cup game he played in for a year or 2 against some very good opposition.

Kayden Jackson is a good example of your point and I thought Mallik Wilks was bone idle and not up for a relegation battle when he was here but he's played games consistently in League One and The Championship since. I didn't know at the time but Wilks brother was murdered and whilst on loan at Doncaster, he was lucky not to go to prison for being part of a gang that stabbed a teenager.

I scored a few goals in the over 65 walking football team. Any chance of a Gtfc call up ?

I reckon you might have a chance at Glanford Park next season…
