Deeply shocked and saddened by the news - the word legend gets banded around too often nowadays but this guy was a true legend both on the pitch and during his stint on commentary, his knowledge of the game was immense.i watched him on numerous occasions and got so frustrated with the English batsmen who succumbed to his skill which at the time I didn't realise just how talented this guy was.
One thing this has taught me is to cherish and love  everything you have in your life and to take nothing or no-one for granted!
Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends - RIP Warnie sadly taken to soon but always in our memories ❤️

We were sat near the Sky Pad at Headingley last summer and Shane came and sat behind the advertising boards waiting for the lunch break. Unlike some of the Sky pundits, he had time for a chat and let us get photos. Lovely man, fantastic talented sportsman and taken far too soon. RIP Warney.

Absolutely gutted. Loved him. Best bowler of all time and a brilliant, lovely man. Love you Warney. Sleep tight.

Ashes to Ashes!

I thought that was excellent. Bad taste, but funny. It’s what he would have appreciated 😆

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Played a slow game, professionally, in the sun. Then got paid to watch it. Interspersed with a colourful off field lifestyle. A life well lived.

Funny how some celebrity deaths are so much more affecting than others. Probably pushing Bradman hard for the GOAT status. RIP.

Oddly, the last celebrity death which shook me so much was another Aussie, Steve Irwin back in 2006.

Two bubbly, Aussie characters cut from similar cloth.

RIP.

Strange being English, but Shane was one of my sporting idols.

Having played cricket for the best part of 35 years and being a spin bowler myself, you can appreciate the skill he had.

He played the game with a smile, I guess he could when playing in one of the greatest teams at the time.

When he retired and started commentating he was very fair in his assessment and knowledge he would offer to the viewers, in a way even those with little cricket knowldege would understand.

A sad two legends of the sport I enjoy playing and watching have passed away.

RIP
