But in other news, Stockport are more than 4x us

Our agent fees rank highly in the division and we've made a similar number of permanent signings to Dag & Red. Notts County meanwhile have made 7 permanent transfers and Solihull have signed 5 players permanently.

Problem is we don't know the individual break down.

It could be that Holohan, as a random example, commanded an agents fee of £25k which absolutely skews the figure and average.  Same could apply to all clubs.

What never fails to amaze me is that fifth tier footballers feel they need an agent in the first place.

They've still got to try to maximise their income over an uncertain career. And especially as for many players at this level there could be a choice of being part-time with a well paid job, versus being a full-time footballer .....meaning they have to absolutely give it their best shot if they go full-time.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

At the other end of the scale,  Man City paid out more than £35 million.

I understand that players want to maximise their income but you’d think a financial advisor with qualifications, from a regulated profession would be a better option than, in some cases, a greedy agent looking out only for themselves.

I also understand that once you head in to the championship and beyond the sums of cash are greater and that alleged expertise is welcomed but as the Macclesfield documentary showed, lads earning no more than 50quid a week are paying for agents…bonkers…

Not seen the Macclesfield documentary but I do recall Curtis Woodhouse saying how stupid it was that his keeper at Goole had an agent. He earned £30 per week!

£27 after his agent's cut.
