Ah yes, more peddling of an agenda.

Remove football and add boxing, cricket, rugby (yea, even the middle class great loafer wearing types get on the chisel from time to time)horse racing among others and you’d manage to find a story like this.

Of course this helps them to justify the issues at the euros rather than admitting the real issues…

Had a lengthy chat with our football copper a few weeks back. His view of these shoddy pieces of journalism, not to mention the issues at the euros was actually refreshing to hear.

Go on a night out anywhere in the country and drugs are absolutely rife, and its all kinds of people doing them at all kinds of places. Theres a much bigger and more complicated conversation that needs to be had in regards to that than wrongly thinking it goes hand in hand with football in any way

As others have said remove sport out of the equation ands it no different to a weekend up and down the country. It doesn’t justify the actions of those involved and a culture change needs to happen. Have you got any suggestions or ideas on how you would tackle the problem

Lay off the fan base. I've travelled a lot with Town fans and have never seen them intimidate disabled supporters, attack family groups or single out individual opposition supporters for a beating. I have seen all three of these done to our supporters by others. Stop stirring the pot or you play into the hands of the media and the early kick off apparatchiks!

Having never seen something does not mean it doesn't exist. Lots of people in many countries over the years have never witnessed atrocities but they have happened none the less. A sad trait of the human psyche is that the innocent many are judged by the reckless behaviour of the few.

I wait for the news to report the facts before commenting. Facts based on arrests made for drug use and violence and yes I was there and saw nothing but like it or not the Club have made national headlines for the wrong reasons again.  

Yeah 'cos the news always just report the facts don't they? Just like 'Cocaine and kids as young as 12: The new face of hooliganism' despite 'in fact' absolutely no children found to be in possession of an illegal substance and 8 bags of coke + something-teen smoke bombs being ditched, the 'factual' result of scrutiny of 2000 'hooligans'. You see my point?

Just clicked the link provided, so we are talking about 6 people among nearly 8,000, and you think that's:

A. Newsworthy
and
B. Letting the club and fan base down?

Just because it’s not as bad doesn’t mean you can condone it.
But when it’s made out to be far worse than it is, (and that’s what’s occurring at the moment), it’s absolutely boring.
Almost Any team that takes 1800 to what is considered a localish derby will get similar results. Chesterfield played up here earlier this year. Mansfield did the same not so long ago.
Have a pop at the idiots if you want. But it’s a vast minority and percentage wise less than a night out in any Town or City.

Going about fighting with people in the street - yes, very bad.

Low level drug possession, pyro possession(?!), pitch encroachment - is that newsworthy? It’s insane that two of these constitute a criminal offence, and I imagine the third would normally result in a caution at worst.

Problem is, because of the context, all the offences are now being conflated as one massive moral panic and the news outlets are generating clicks off it. Standard outcome nowadays.
