One of the summer signings I was most excited about but I had completely forgotten about him. You can't get them all right and this one hasn't worked out.

Had high hopes for him, thought he'd be quality in this league, a definite shame but the right decision which gives him time to sort his future before the influx of free agents at the end of the season. All the best

16 mins at Kidderminster (0-1)
16 mins at Stockport (0-4)
9 minutes at Halifax (0-1)

41 mins in total. Nicky Rizzo is often quoted as the player who played the least for the Mariners — does Joel Grant now take that award?

EDIT: Robbie Busscher came on as a 89th min sub at West Brom in 01/02 and never played again, so I think that's going to be hard to beat!

Whatever happened to Mickael Buscher, signed by Mike Newell, only to never play a game? That was an odd one even by Newell’s standards; must have been on the strong stuff that day.

The noughties is just one big blur of tragedy because I was sure Buscher came with Antoine-Curier. Am I dreaming it or did we have a French player called Robbie at some point in the noughties?

We seemed to always have someone French in our squad during the noughties: Santos, Antoine-Curier, Pinault, Kalala, Buscher, JLAA.

Buscher was more around the time of Akpa Akpro, if memory serves. I was one of the privileged few who witnessed Akpa Akpro make his unofficial Town debut for the reserves at Elland Road, one evening. 0-1 Leeds readies. What a night.

Worked it out now, I'm thinking of Dutch player Robbie Busscher signed by Lennie Lawrence in 2001 along with young Dutch goalkeeper Ronald Ermes.

Busscher managed 1 minute of First Division football for the Mariners.

Different Buscher but yeah, signed from some basement division Scottish team because he was a French person who also spoke English and he could translate for Akpa Akpro and help him settle in. Lasted like 6 months before Newell got rid and only played for the reserves so probably outlived his usefulness by then. If I recall correctly the two of them lived together for a bit when Akpa Akpro first signed and didn't really get on anyway and Akpa Akrpo moved into a flat with Widdowson, guess once that happened they had no reason to keep him and he went off to play football in Tunisia.

This generation's Chima. I was at The Shay and will always treasure that 10 minute cameo when he almost got a touch.

You can’t even put him in the same forum as Chima, let alone the thread.

That game at tranmere was special

You are being a bit harsh, you missed off his 45 mins against Rotherham in the pre season.
Good riddance.

I said very early doors that I thought his stay would be brief and uneventful, sadly turned out that way.  Another player from our recent history that is getting admitted straight into Room 101.

I only saw him play for the reserves and he looked miles off it.

Pity really as he's got a decent pedigree. Some signings just don't work and his was one of them.
