Big game for them tonight. Does anyone think they know what their promotion would be worth to us?

I hope Forest turn them over, this mentally about little Bournemouth punching above its weight, bank rolled by Russian money.

I hope Forest beat them because I think the job done at Forest is nothing short of a miracle.

As for Bournemouth, I have a serious issue with them that comes from absolutely nowhere.

It does bore me that there’s this narrative that they’re a little club running on a shoe string…

25% of any profit Peterborough make.

Peterborough have confirmed there's a promotion clause in there too.  All depends on what the clause is, but whatever we get will go that little bit more to paying off Fenty.

I expected Bournemouth to run riot after their January transfers but it hasn't quite worked out as expected.  Forest, on the other hand, just seem to have the bit between their teeth.

Certainly setting up for an exciting finale anyway. The Championship rarely fails to deliver on the drama.

All the momentum with Forest..if they can get a result tonight then they’ve an easy last game against Hull.

I would like to see Forest back in the Premier League but I think a Bournemouth promotion will have Fenty paid up.

Yep, I'm with you both on this. They're in there with the likes of Rotherham, Wigan, Bury, etc. Clubs that are an absolute circus and in the shit financially one season, then they avoid admin and suck up a points deduction for the next season season and then have the top budget in their division the season after that.

In every other situation (assuming I’d bring myself to care enough) I’d probably want Forest to win.

In this situation, given we directly benefit if Bournemouth win there is no decision to make - it’s a no brainer - Bournemouth to win all the way.

Of course, once we’ve pocketed the sell-on cash, I’d shed no tears if Bournemouth came straight back down.

It’s hard to look beyond this perspective for me. On the balance of probability, we are more likely than not to still be in this division next season and once again up against a series of gilded clubs prepared to speculate to chase the dream of League football.

No doubt I prefer Forest to Bournemouth as a club, but if a Bournemouth win equates to an additional £50k to £200k in our coffers next season, then that’s selfishly the outcome I favour.

Forest have kicked on brilliantly since difficult FAC matches against higher division sides.  All credit to them.  There were never in the running for automatic promotion a few months ago.

Boreham Wood had 5 clean sheets in a very good cup run (ironically, beating Bournemouth away).
Since then their results have collapsed.  The polar opposite of Forest.

Forest were bottom when Steve Cooper took over at the end of September. No mean feat that.

Oh well hopefully we’re on the up now.

Not sure how Aldershot (1992)s experience counts as cheating. They were the first club since Accrington to fold during a season. The phoenix club started I believe at level 8 and backed by fans came back the hard way.

The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory but progress.

Even if we profit from Bournemouth getting promoted, no way I want them to win, I have principles and prefer to stick with them, money or no money.

How far back do you want to go with principles?

Wedges of cash in brown paper envelopes to seal a transfer ahead of the competition - Clough and, therefore, Forest don’t come out well from that.

Don’t get me wrong, the cynical use of administration has not been a good thing for football in any way, hence the points deductions, but, within the law of the land, it remains a legitimate action.

Given the length and extent of your list, at what point do we move on?

(Mind you seeing Portsmouth on there still rankles given what they owed us.)

I said I have principles, thats the way I was bought up, I would not change them for any amount of money.

The govering bodies, should have done more, alot earlier about clubs going in administration, its the small businesses who suffer when a club goes in adminstration, they never get the money owed to them.

I have moved on, but the list goes to show that even with points deductions the system is not working.
Wigan go into liquidation 2021 take a 12 points deduction in the championship, get regelated and get promoted this season. How long before they use the system again.

Serial offenders Portsmouth, Rotherham United & Bournemouth.

No problem with principles from me, just across the piece you can't say Forest are squeaky clean, and if principles determine who you'll support, on what basis do you judge it and how far back do you go?

I mean, speak to the Boston Utd Chairman and Town probably don't come out of it smelling like roses!!!

Your friendly reminder that the only reason we never went into administration as a club was that our major creditor was J S Fenty. Don't fool yourself that Fenty wouldn't have taken this option if it was of no detriment to him. We did plenty of dodgy things financially still... pension fund, anyone?

Worst mistake he ever made was not taking that route like so many other clubs did at the time, but as you say, if he thought for one minute it’s hurt him then it was a no go…all about him…

Looking at his Wikipedia page the owner of Nottingham Forest seems a splendid chap. It’s good to see the ‘fit and proper’ person tests are working too.

In March 2018, Marinakis was charged with drug trafficking.[119] The accusations against Marinakis were described as "very serious charges" following an investigation after the tanker Noor 1 was intercepted at the Greek port of Piraeus carrying 2.1 tonnes of heroin in 2014.[120] According to the jailed co-owner of Noor 1, Efthymios Yiannousakis, the vessel had in fact carried an additional ton of heroin (worth $70 million) which was unloaded on the island of Crete and trafficked to mainland Europe before Greek authorities managed to intercept the rest of the cargo. Yiannousakis further claimed that the heroin unloaded in Crete belonged to Marinakis.[121] The judicial council of the Piraeus Lower Court touched on all related issues and ruled that the prosecutor's order was not justified.[122]

Nottingham Forest F.C. chairman Nicholas Randall wrote an open letter to supporters reaffirming his support for Evangelos Marinakis. Randall confirmed the matter was under investigation but that "there is no ‘charge’ against Marinakis and no ‘prosecution’ is in process."[123]

In January 2021 and after 10 witnesses of the case have already died, and after reviewing the case, the judge came to the conclusion that there was no evidence implicating Marinakis, and therefore concluded his investigation.[124]

Administration means loss of control for the owner with unlike other businesses no chances of buy back. So owners fall into two categories 1 Despearte to keep control so avoid administration at all cost example Fenty.
2 excrement or bust owners throw money at it and walk away if all goes wrong leading to administration.
Which is best for fans is debatable.
1 Resulted in 18 years of slow decline
2 Roller coaster ride with winners and losers.
Alternative 3 is a utopia of sustainable growth and rise not the many examples of this.
Which fans get appears to be be a lottery.

It'd be interesting to know how much we still owe the ex-non-chairman. We can work out, ish, how much we have paid off thanks to transfers but it would be interesting to find out if JS and AP have paid anything off the 'debt' like they said they would.

I know its all hush hush but finding out might just give the fans a bit of a boost

You'd like to think so wouldn't you? Providing Bournemouth go up, although I'm not knowledgeable on how much we will receive from the Dembele transfer, surely we must have paid at least 1.5m by that point. With the sales of Pollock, Grist, Burrell, and the other lad who's name escapes me. Hopefully with a new sponsor and having Fenty paid off we could have a decent kitty next year, although I am aware of the new FFP rules, I don't know how strongly they will be enforced.

£550k from Dembele (sell on & promotion bonus)
£250k from Pollock
£160 from Grist

There’s £960k. Aren’t 1878 rumoured to have put £500k of their own cash in when first taking over? Not seen it confirmed anywhere, but that’s £1.46m if so. No idea what we might pocket for Bournemouth going up, but hope it’s at least £40k. Think removing that particular albatross will be a symbolic boost as well as a financial one.

The first £500k installment was due 31st December 2021 so if he's not paid off, it's very, very close.

They could just tell us if Fenty has been paid off and how given that every fan is interested.
Why shouldn’t they?
What advantage can there be in keeping everyone guessing ?
Why is everybody who gets the opportunity to ask questions , RH, DN35 Q&A afraid to ask?

Perhaps it's been made clear to them all privately that they won't answer that question? The accounts will show it when they get released next year and I'm sure Darragh MacAnthony will reveal more information about the undisclosed fee in the next few days because he can't restrain himself.

I seem to remember burrell was in the region of 25k too, but could be mistaken. So maybe only 15k to make the 1 million mark, I'm sure that promotion bonus would mean it was reached and breached- happy days!

I see today it's been reported that Abramovich wants the £2.5bn+ for the club PLUS the £1.5bn loan.

He paid £140m, put in £1.5bn so if he sold it for £2.5bn, it would net him about £850m profit but instead, he's looking to set to make £3.85bn profit if someone is stupid enough to pay it.

Burrell was £100k IIRC, but that was nearly 3 years ago now so will have been spunked long before 1878 were in the chair.

This thread about repaying fenty makes my urine boil how many time did he say in my eyes the loan money is lost and I will never hold the club to ransom to get it back.
