Why don’t the council get off their arses and help organise a fan park…I think I can answer my own question…

I get the sentiment but in truth, how many would go given plenty of places locally are showing it?

Agree but, all those will surely be pubs etc. what about families wanting to go ? This is pretty poor from the council IF they have scuppered this (though being an ex publican can see both sides to it) Is there a pub in meggies/gy that has the facilities to show it in a beer garden?

I'm sure there is a bar on Cleethorpes High street that has a large, outdoor screen through the back of the bar with a raised seating area too.

Well just back from playing golf and was planning to watch the match at BP on Saturday as we did the County game. So 2 Adults and 2 15 year olds would appreciate any recommendations for places to watch this over in Grimsby/Cleethorpes.
Ideally somewhere that we can get a seat is preferred but accept that might be an optimistic objective .

Think this is a bit of a shame really given the vast majority of fans won't be at the game... a mini match atmosphere sounded ace and would of been a good bet for families and avoid the gamble of pub space etc.
Nevermind! Also up for recommends of pubs in Meggies/GY, preferably with a real ale or two on tap...

That statement reads like "we wanted to do it, but we can't and it's not our fault. Someone else is to blame."
Another example of the values the new owners talk about not being lived up to.
The club has messed up. Firstly by taking a McMenemy's booking on a date that was listed as a Play-off Semi-Final date since last July. And secondly by not having anything organised in advance. But apparently it's the fault of somebody else (probably BT Sport).

I'm sure the booking was probably made prior to our relegation.

You don't know how far in advance the booking was taken, as for organising in advance you can't predict demand or lack of tickets to a game because they had no idea who we'd be facing in a semi-final last July. As far as I read the main issues were because of renovations going on to the ground, I get some people are disappointed that they can't get together with their mates and have it feel like a matchday but their values in wanting to improve the ground and matchday experience are clear in that work on the ground has stopped this happening.

On Tuesday morning when I told the kids how great Monday was I promised them we would go watch the Wrexham game at the ground in McMenemys. In hindsight I should have known that the silence coming out of the club about that was a bad sign but I hoped they would get a screen in front of the Pontoon depending what stage the grass was at.
I would like to know who they are blaming here because if it's the council, what hope have we got?
I'm disappointed but it's not the clubs fault.

Putting a screen up at BP isn’t that simple.
Yes it’s a shame but I’m still not convinced they’d get more than 500…
Perhaps they could’ve done something but let’s face it, we didn’t plan on being in the playoffs and as Wrexham have pointed out, Saturday is just a parade for them, we’re merely making up the numbers so it’s probably not regarded as important…

The only issue I have is the club pointing fingers all the time. It shows a lack of class.

You appear to be reading a different statement to the rest of us. It doesn't say it's anyone else's fault, only that they tried to make it happen, couldn't and are sorry.

They stated that they couldn't get permission so somebody has put a stop to it, it would be interesting to know who. As for equipment hire, the club showed the Notts County game didn't they?

Wasn't the showing at McMenemy's, and they tried to show it inside the stadium this time? Could be the pitch installers stopped it, or BT or alcohol licencing which only sits every so often, and if you miss the session, you have to wait for the next. Or even hire of a big screen could be the issue. Maybe the Grim Telegraph will do something useful for once and make a list of Pubs/Bars that show BT Sport.

I would think screening the event to an audience in a stadium is not something that bt sport would allow, in a bar is one thing via the pub TV screening fees that I guess are paid... but open air, big screen then probably doubtful. Also I would think as its outside of a standard football match and more of an event then potentially some council permission event license needed..... And that's if you can get the equipment together to actually show it anyway. The club clearly tried to do something but likely a whole catalogue of issues have lead to it just not being viable.

Why are you sure?
To be honest, not entirely sure when the booking was made is relevant. Until 5 weeks ago nothing was certain, you don’t not take a booking on the off chance there’s a playoff match coming… I’m aware some have said that there a statement that suggests it’s someone else’s fault etc but in truth that’s right. The hoops to jump through to show the game on a screen in the stadium are huge and equally so if they had it on say the car park, then factor in how many would and wouldn’t turn up… Much like getting tickets online, if people want to see it, they can, you might just have to put a little effort in…

It's a shame but not the club's fault, it is a logistical challenge and I'd imagine BT Sport wouldn't have allowed it. Also can see NEL not wanting to give temporary licensing for a footy event without more warning, stewarding arrangements etc. - not that I think that's fair, but we all know the panic from licensing, police etc one something involves football.

Guess it’s harder these days when the owner isn’t deputy leader and his mate happens to own a private security firm, who also happens to be the security manager for the club… I also think it could’ve been something which ended up being completely uneconomical. There’s plenty of places locally and as I’ve said, you don’t have to look too hard for somewhere showing it, the trust even provided a list…

It's unlikely the club are going to go straight in on BT isn't it?
But the lines are pretty big enough to read between. Didn't get permission to broadcast says it all. Not didn't get permission to host but permission to broadcast.
Short notice, very unfortunate but it is what it is. You can plan but you can't plan for any single potential outcome. Considering the amount of games and dates that have been moved in the Conference this year at late notice, including Monday gone, it's harsh to apportion any blame at the club for not blocking the calendar out.
